Lemira Elementary School Updates:
As we embark on this journey together, our theme this year is "Unlocking Potential, the AVID Way"! 9/24 is National Punctuation Day! Some fun ways to celebrate include making a collage of punctuation marks with your scholar, or trying to use every type of punctuation in your communications throughout the day.
9/25 is National Comic Book Day and National Math Storytelling Day. Pick up a comic book or have students create their own. Create math collages or develop math puzzles that tell a story to promote learning.
Title One Parent SEL Tips:
Parents Help your Child Feel Confident
By age seven or eight, many children become self-conscious. A critical inner voice says things like, “That’s stupid” or
“You can’t read”. You can help your child develop confidence. Don’t criticize your child for worrying. Let your child know often that you think he is a great kid. Your calm attitude and your constant reassurances will build a positive inner voice for your child.
