Principally Speaking
Dear Winthrop Families,
As the adage says, March has come in like a lion regarding the flurry of happenings at Winthrop. Spring Ace programs began on Monday with a whopping 19 offerings ranging from game clubs to art activities and gardening opportunities. We are so very thankful to all the parents and community members for volunteering their time to continue our tradition of offering after-school enrichment to students free of charge. A special thank you to Mrs. Norris and Mrs. Keenan for organizing our Spring ACE program. Their extra efforts and dedication to recruiting and organizing these programs are deeply appreciated.
Grade 2 performed their show, Cookies The Musical, under the direction of Miss Fab! We loved the special guest appearance by Mrs. Murray as a piece of bacon chased by the puppies in Ms. Shea's Class.
Today, we are honored to have author Susan Verde present to our students about her career spanning kindergarten teacher, yoga instructor, and author. Her message to the students was one of positivity and believing in yourself which aligned beautifully with our theme of the year- BELIEVE. Ask your children to tell you how her first story was inspired by her son visiting a museum. She also explained her writing process to the students which begins with an idea that turns into a rough draft and goes through many revisions. Thank you to the Winthrop FRIES for partnering with Ms. Vitale and Mrs. Maher to make today's visit possible. More information about Susan Verde can be found on her website at www.susanverde.com.
Good luck to our fourth and fifth graders tonight at Choral Fest at the Dolan Performing Arts Center at 7:00 p.m. Please see the link to the live stream below.
Until next week,

Kindergarten Round Up
Calling all families of incoming kindergarten students! Kindergarten Roundup is the first step in the kindergarten registration process. Each year at this time we try to determine the names of children who will enter kindergarten in the Ipswich Public Schools in September. It is essential that we have these names now so that we can begin the school registration process and plan for classes.
Families of students who are eligible to attend kindergarten in September 2024 should take a moment to complete a Kindergarten Roundup Form.

Our theme this year is the Olympics to highlight the 2024 Summer Games in Paris. Each day will include stories, crafts, a snack, and outdoor games, all of which will have an Olympics connection. There is no charge for the camp.
To register, go to the library's website at www.ipswichlibrary.org and then to the events calendar. Navigate to the July calendar and to the registration links for camp on July 8. There is a different link for each grade level. Please click on the appropriate link for the grade your child will be entering in September.
