Parent Reminders - September 15th
Teacher In-Service: Reminder that on Monday, September 18, 2023 Sealy ISD schools will be closed for teacher in-service training. Our children will return to campus on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 and doors will open at 7:45am.
Family Learning Night: We are excited that on September 21, Maggie B. Selman Elementary will be hosting a Family Learning Night in conjunction with the Houston Children’s Museum. It is a great night of family activities that are hands-on, innovative, and child-centered. The event will take place from 5:30-7:00 pm in the Selman Elementary Cafeteria.
McDonald’s Spirit Night: The Maggie B. Selman Elementary PTA will be hosting a Spirit Night at our local Sealy McDonald’s on Monday, September 25, 2023 from 5:00pm - 8:00pm. Plan on coming to see your favorite teachers working at McDonald’s to raise money for the PTA.
Arrival/Dismissal: Thank you to our Safety Patrol for assisting in the arrival and dismissal of our students. Remember that doors open at 7:45am and we ask that if you are picking your child up early from school, please do so by 3:15pm so we can safely and efficiently account for all of our children at the 3:35pm dismissal.
Attendance Matters: We love seeing our Tigers each day and school is such a better place with them here. Throughout the year we will have attendance incentives and strive to meet the Sealy ISD goal of 96.0% daily attendance for our scholars and teachers. For questions about attendance, or to scan an absence note, email mbsattendance@sealyisd.com

Inside MBS
The fifth graders participated in a State Fair as part of their test review. Students transformed into livestock judges to determine which animals received a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place in their various contests. We estimated the cost of items at the concession stand and figured out the cost of different items sold at fair booths. Students used their place value knowledge to write decimals in expanded notation with fractions and decimals using information about carnival rides. Students determined the rounded time it took for horses to complete a race. It was a great day in math!
It's never too early to ignite a passion for STEM! Our first-grade enrichment class had so much fun exploring our STEM Stations and developing their skills in an interactive and creative way.
