Minnesota School of Excellence!
What an incredible week at Southview! We came together as a school community to celebrate being named a Minnesota School of Excellence, a recognition of the amazing work happening across our building. The celebration highlighted students from every grade level, our Kindness Squad, and included performances by the Valley Middle School 8th Grade Band and Apple Valley High School’s choirs. The event ended with the Southview School Song and a joyful all-school photo. MESPA Executive Director Michelle Krell officially presented the award, which we proudly accepted on behalf of our entire community. This milestone reflects the heart of Southview—our students, staff, and families. Thank you for being such an important part of what makes our school so special!

Summer Guide for District-Issued iPads
Please click on the following link for guidelines and expectations about safe and responsible iPad use during the summer months: Summer Guide
Southview will NOT store any iPads at school for families who do not want their students to have them during the summer. Families will need to find a safe spot in their home to store the iPads.
iPad Protection Plan
It’s not too late to purchase the optional 2024-25 iPad Protection Plan to cover your student’s iPad against accidental damage over the summer. Screen damage is the most common issue and is $89-149 to repair versus $0 for a first incident of damage under the iPad Protection Plan.
If you aren’t sure whether you’ve purchased the iPad Protection Plan, sign in to EduTrak, tap the gray shopping cart icon, and check your purchase history by tapping History.
Contact Amy Kupinski, our Mobile Device Support Specialist, at amy.kupinski@district196.org or 952-431-3787 with any questions.
Please follow these instructions to purchase the 2024-25 iPad Protection Plan in EduTrak:
- Log in to the EduTrak Connect landing page. If you do not have an EduTrak account, follow these instructions: English / Somali / Spanish. You will need your student’s ID number, which can be found in Campus Parent.
- Tap on the gray shopping cart icon, or tap the Go button under "Student Fees."
- Scroll down and tap "Assign" under 24-25 iPad Optional Protection Plan to assign the Protection Plan fee to your child.
- Tap "Sign Forms," and then "Yes" to proceed.
- Read the Protection Plan information, tap the box next to "I Agree" and type your name in the box under "Parent/Guardian Signature."
- Tap "Submit Responses," and then either "Add to Cart," or "Finish" and "Yes" if you have an approved Educational Benefits application.
- Scroll down and repeat the process for each of your students.
- Once you have completed the steps for all of your children, scroll up and tap "Checkout," and "Pay Now." You will see a green check mark to confirm your purchase. If your Protection Plan fee is waived with an approved Educational Benefits application, you do not need to check out.
SUN Bucks
SUN Bucks is a new federal program (formerly known as Summer EBT) that provides $120 in child food benefits to bridge the summer meal gap. SUN Bucks is a joint effort with District 196 and MN Department of Children, Youth, and Families. The SUN Bucks card is mailed from MN Department of Children, Youth, and Families to the primary address District 196 has on file. School-aged children between the ages of 7-17 whose households participate in specific public assistance programs or qualify to receive educational benefits can receive this summer benefit. Families not yet enrolled should apply for educational benefits through our school district. Access the state’s SUN Bucks webpage to learn more or visit the MNbenefits webpage for other support programs.
