Eagle Bluff
The Eagle Bluff field trip for 5th graders is fast approaching in November. There is an informative meeting for all 5th grade parents next Monday, September 23rd, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 in the cafeteria. This will lead up to the PTA meeting so hopefully families can stay for the meeting.
Also, mark your calendars for Monday, October 7th for a night out at Davanni's. The 5th grade will receive a percentage of all sales from 4:00 to 8:00 on that evening will go towards Eagle Bluff. You can dine in or order take-out and the money will go directly to the Eagle Bluff trip. Everyone is encouraged to take part, so please get the word out.
Parent Drop-Off
Thank you to everyone who has made parent drop-off and pick-up smooth this year. At this point we will not hand out placards because of how great it's been. Please make sure all students are picked up by 2:05 each day.

Individual 5th Grade PLP meetings with School Counselors
Dear 5th grade families,
Thank you for partnering with our school community to support your student’s success in Saint Paul Public Schools. We are excited to share several updates about our school counseling program for the 2024-2025 school year.
Over the past few years, students have begun creating a Personal Learning Plan. Your student’s Personal Learning Plan tracks their interests, strengths, school subjects they like most and goals in order to help plan for their future in Saint Paul Public Schools and beyond. Your student also has the chance to identify potential careers they might be interested in learning more about during their K-12 experience. We will continue using a digital platform called Xello to track your student’s Personal Learning Plan.
In addition, all 5th grade students can look forward to an individualized meeting with their school counselor that focuses on their Personal Learning Plan. This individualized meeting will help your 5th grade child finish elementary school strong and prepare for Middle School. Students may refer to this meeting as their "M&M Meeting" (Mindsets & Me).
We encourage you to log into your child’s Xello account together to explore the contents of their Personal Learning Plan. Xello can be accessed through the Clever App on their iPad.
If you have any questions or concerns about any of this information or you are unable to log into Xello, please reach out to Lauren Smith at lauren.smith@spps.org.
Thank you!

PTA News
Next Monday, September 23rd, is the first PTA meeting of the year. Everyone is invited to come and hear about the start of the school year as well as upcoming events sponsored by the PTA. The meeting starts at 6:00 in the cafeteria with dinner and school aged childcare available for families.
Upcoming dates for PTA:
- Friday, September 27th - Randolph Heights outdoor movie night (weather permitting). Bring lawn chairs, blankets and snacks and enjoy "The Mighty Ducks" movie on the playground lawn. The building will not be open, but their will be a "port-a-potty" on site. Movie starts at 7:00.
- Randy's Races - The main fundraiser for the school year will be kicked off Wednesday, September 25th at school. All students will bring home a packet of information about the fund-raiser. We encourage all students to participate by at least filling out and completing the activity grid. The Dragon Dash will occur on Friday, October 11th (weather permitting) during specialist times. More information will be available as we get closer to the date.
- Anyone interested in volunteering for the day of the race or helping to tie-dye, there will be information coming out about these opportunities.
- A huge shout out to the PTA for sponsoring the two playground playdates for families last week. Even with a very brief rain shower on Thursday, the attendance was great and everyone had an awesome time. The popsicles were a great addition and everyone enjoyed them.
Back to School Forms
Back to school forms (formerly iUpdate) is a way for families to complete multiple school and district forms in one spot. Updating information on this site will ensure families receive proper services and communication from the school and district. Only one parent from each household is expected to complete the forms and it is incredibly important for every family to fill out the free/reduced lunch form. Even if you know you will not qualify, this form helps drive funding for our school next year and it is vital that each family fills it out. Please visit the site below to fill out all the forms.
Web Site
Randolph Heights, as well as the district, has a new web site this year. One change in it is we are no longer able to have a "banner" on the top of the page to announce upcoming events. With the new site, families will need to click on the "News" section and that will bring you to a page with upcoming events. Please note this for future reference.
Cogat Testing
The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT7) is one measure used to identify students as advanced learners/gifted and talented in Saint Paul Public Schools (SPPS).
The CogAT7 will be administered to all SPPS kindergarten and second grade students sometime between October 7, 2024 and November 7, 2024. The test is only available to take during this time frame. If you do not want your child to participate, please email Principal Tim Williams.
Students in grades 1, 3, 4 and 5 may also take the CogAT7 test if requested by a staff member, parent or community member. Please email Principal Williams by October 12, 2024 if you want to request that your student take the test.
