Superintendent Message: Dec. 16-20
SUPERINTENDENT MESSAGE
Inspired by Christ on a Journey to Encounter, Nurture, and Serve.
Inspiré par Dieu dans une Aventure à Découvrir, Grandir, et Servir.
December 16 - 20, 2024
Good morning,
The third Sunday of Advent, Gaudete Sunday, invites us to rejoice in the joy of Christmas. It’s a time to reflect on the love and support of our families, who play such an important role in our lives. Let us pray for them, give thanks for their presence, and cherish the life God has blessed us with together. These simple acts of gratitude are gifts that can bring joy throughout the year.
The third Advent candle, the “Shepherd’s Candle,” is pink, symbolizing joy. It reminds us of the shepherds who, though humble and ordinary, were chosen to witness and share the incredible news of Christ’s birth. This joy shines brightly pointing us toward the ultimate celebration of Jesus’ arrival.
As we prepare for the final days of Advent, blessings to you and your loved ones this joyous Christmas. May you find time to relax, cherish your family, and embrace the peace of this holy season.
Merry Christmas!
Kathleen Finnigan, Superintendent
Our Kindergarten and Grade 1 classes proudly sponsored a successful donation drive for the Christmas Bureau.
The generous and compassionate spirit of our school community resulted in the collection of 214 items, which will be part of the exciting Toque Toss at the Rebels game on December 14th.
We are immensely proud of all members of our school for their contributions to this wonderful community initiative.

The Ordinary Jubilee of the Year 2025 is an opportunity for all people to enter into a pilgrimage of hope. Whether we celebrate locally (in our dioceses, cathedrals or Canada’s National Shrines) or make a pilgrimage to Rome, we are called to search for signs of hope and be signs of hope in our families, for our neighbours, the imprisoned, the sick and dying, the young and old.
Indeed, hope does not disappoint!
"Oh Father, in Your mercy, hear Your children's pleas. As we prepare for the Jubilee of 2025, renew our faith, increase the virtues of hope and charity in us, and help us be witnesses of Your love in the world."

It's almost time for the holidays and here at the Alberta Legislature, we are getting excited about the Alberta Teachers Institute on Parliamentary Democracy!
Introduced in 2019, this free professional development opportunity provides Alberta educators with unique access to the Legislature by exploring the traditions and roles of Alberta's parliament while networking with fellow teachers from around the province. The next edition of this incredible program will take place at the Legislature May 4-6, 2025.
We want to ensure that the program is widely accessible to educators currently teaching within the field of education or public programming. The Legislative Assembly Office therefore covers all accommodation and most meal expenses for the duration of the program. Accepted applicants are offered a subsidy of $250 towards supply teacher fees or travel expenses.
If you are interested in participating, please fill out our Application Form by Monday, January 6th 2025. All applicants will receive confirmation within one week of their online application. Successful applicants will be notified within a week after the closing date. Attached is a poster for the event, you are welcome to print it off or send it to anyone else who may be interested.
If you have any questions about the application form or this year’s program, please do not hesitate to send us an email at education@assembly.ab.ca. For more information visit Alberta Teachers Institute.
Thank you for your continued interest in our Parliamentary Democracy programs and we hope to see you at this year’s Teachers Institute!
Best,
