PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Friday, April 19th
MAP testing has gone very well this week! Our Panthers have done such a great job and I am so proud of them!
We have a few more days of testing coming up so thank you for partnering with us by limiting absences and ensuring students come to school well rested and with full bellies! It is hugely appreciated!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

SAFTETY DRILL (UPDATED - PLEASE READ!)
Twice a year, we conduct a lockdown safety drill with all students. This is one of the routine safety drills we practice throughout the year, along with evacuation drills, shelter-in-place drills, and bus evacuation drills. Students are prepared for this drill so they are not unnecessarily alarmed, and it will be announced in advance. Officer O'Leary from the Arlington Heights Police Department will also be in attendance during our practice drill along with other AHPD officers.
Our last Lockdown Drill was in September and our next drill will be on TUESDAY, APRIL 30th.

Our amazing Kindergarten teachers, Mrs. Pullam and Mrs. Dietmeyer, hosted a story time for our incoming Kindergartners on Tuesday! They read Elephant and Piggy and did a fun craft! Special thanks to our PTA for preparing and facilitating this craft with our future panthers! We are so excited for these Kindergartners to join us in the Fall for FULL DAY K! Pre-registration is open so please do spread the word if you know of any new families to the area who have not yet registered! Feel free to share THIS LINK with them.
ADVANCED LEARNING PLACEMENT INFORMATION (NEW POST!)
The advanced placement process will occur in May after the school year's testing windows have closed. Percentiles on the most recent CogAT and the highest of three MAP scores will be converted to a standard score (or z-score) before averaging, which provides a standardized way to compare data. The district will also calculate local percentiles for both assessments at this time. Families will receive placement information in mid-May. Only families of students who are new qualifiers to Advanced Math (grades 4-7) and Advanced Language Arts (grades 6-8) will receive letters. If a student is enrolled in an advanced course this school year, they will automatically be enrolled for next year. Please review the FAQ document for answers to more specific questions regarding the placement process. If you still have questions after reviewing, please contact Katie Paulson at kpaulson@sd25.org.

Doors will open at 6:40pm and the curtain will rise at 7:00pm sharp!
HERSEY SPRING PLAY - "PUFFS" (NEW POST!)
Calling all future Huskies....and any Harry Potter fans!! Hersey High School is putting on a performance of "Puffs"!
For seven years a certain boy wizard went to a certain Wizard School and conquered evil. This, however, is not his story. This is the story of the Puffs... who just happened to be there too. A tale for anyone who has never been destined to save the world.
This clever and inventive play “never goes more than a minute without a laugh” (Nerdist) giving you a new look at a familiar adventure from the perspective of three potential heroes just trying to make it through a magic school that proves to be very dangerous for children. Alongside them are the Puffs, a group of well-meaning, loyal outsiders with a thing for badgers “who are so lovable and relatable, you’ll leave the theater wishing they were in the stories all along” (Hollywood Life). Their “hilariously heartfelt!” (Metro) and epic journey takes the classic story to new places and reimagines what a boy wizard hero can be.
