Borton Magnet Elementary Newsletter

Hi Borton Community!
The end of the year is fast approaching, and we are already into the start of the 4th quarter. I hope that you all have enjoyed this year as much as I have. We have made many gains in our instruction and culture at Borton, and our team is really working well together. I couldn’t ask for a better staff and community to work with! Thank you all for your commitment to Borton! Please see below for the March updates.
Thank you all!
Mr. Eric
Lockdown Drill
We will be having a lockdown drill on Thursday, March 28th at 12:00 pm.
TUSD school safety officer Sam Martin will be here the day before to give the staff a quick training and answer all of their questions. We are required to do a lockdown drill once a semester. Our first one we did with no students on campus during a grading day. However, we do need to have one with students on campus now. School safety and security is one of the most important goals that I have for Borton, and this drill is important to train the staff on these procedures. I understand that this may cause anxiety for some of our families, so please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.

We are in need of a PTA President!
We still have not been able to find someone who is willing to step into the president position for PTA. This is a very important position and role for our students and Borton community. If we can't find someone for this position, the PTA will have to unfortunately disband. This will mean no more teacher grants, no more outdoor learning funds, no more movie nights or other community events. Please, please, please, let us know if you are interested.
The Impact of Reading 20 Minutes Per Day!
Studies show that reading with your child just 20 minutes a day will help them to be exposed to more that 1.8 million words per year!
Tax Credit Donation
The Borton Community relies so heavily on your generous donations through AZ tax credits. We wanted to let you all know that we received over $28,000 through tax credit donations last year. Your donations help to fund field trips, special events, athletics, yearbook, technical support and assistance, arts, music, and so much more. Please see the form in the attachment below if you are interested in making a donation. You can also call the office if you would like more information.
