Dear DPM Families,
Thank you for your continued partnership and support throughout Conferences this week! Our teachers always appreciate the time to connect with families about their student's progress.
A huge THANK YOU to the APT for dinner. The APT generously provided dinner and treats for the staff during conferences. The teachers are greatly appreciative of the generosity from the parents and the ease of not having to pack a meal for the evening!
Lastly, thank you to all the parents and students who recognized the administrative team during Principal Appreciation Week. We wouldn’t have such a wonderful school community without the support of our Deer Path families. Thank you!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Dr. Michelle Shinn, 5/6 Principal
Mr. Sam Paulsen, 7/8 Principal

Halloween Costume Guidelines
On Halloween (Thursday, October 31), students are allowed to wear costumes to school. With this in mind, we are asking and expecting that the dress code be followed in addition to the costume guidelines below. If it is not followed, parents will be contacted to bring alternative clothing for their child.
- Students may only apply make-up, color their hair, or put on costumes at home. Parents should have full knowledge of what their child will wear to school.
- Students are not permitted to wear masks.
- Students should respect political and/or religious beliefs.
- Students should not wear anything that has a sexual connotation or would be considered inappropriate dress.
- Costumes that promote graphic violence are not allowed (i.e. blood, gore, etc).
- Students should not use costume props of a violent nature, such as toy guns, toy knives, and/or swords, etc.
Student Absence Reminders
All student absences should be proactively reported in PowerSchool. Please note that attendance submissions that parents enter are viewable by teachers (including substitutes) and attendance staff. Please keep submissions short and with limited personal information. Use phrases such as "Doctor visit" rather than more descriptive language that shares medical information such as the type of doctor.
Gardening 2 Grow (G2G) Ornament Workshop
DPM students are invited to join our Garden Club for a special opportunity. This event is a collaboration with Gardening 2 Grow (G2G), a District 67 partnership with the elementary and middle school garden clubs to cultivate vibrant and educational and hands-on learning experiences in outdoor garden spaces. Students who want to participate should email DPM Garden Club sponsor Mrs. Zoul so we have an accurate headcount of attendees to ensure there are supplies for every participant.
- WHAT - Dried Floral Holiday Ornament Workshop
- WHEN - Tuesday, Oct 29th 3:45pm to 5:15pm
- WHERE - DPM Garden Pergola (rain location Shelter at Northcroft Park)
Luv 4 Livy Support
Olivia (Livy) Rubeck is a 5th grader at Deer Path Middle School. Livy has been courageously battling leukemia and recently faced an additional challenge—a traumatic brain injury. Livy’s journey has been incredibly difficult and she is fortunate to be surrounded by friends in our community that find ways to support her family.
To aid in Olivia’s medical expenses and ongoing recovery efforts, a t-shirt fundraiser has been organized where you can purchase a specially designed t-shirt with all proceeds from the sales going directly to Olivia and her family to help with the financial costs they are facing. Not only will your contribution provide financial relief, but it will also send a powerful message of hope and solidarity to Olivia during her fight.
To buy a t-shirt and make a difference, scan the QR Code below. Every t-shirt sold will make a significant impact and help Olivia on her road to recovery. T-shirts will be available on 11/11 during lunch periods at DPM.
Let’s come together as a community to show Olivia that she is not alone in this battle. Your kindness and generosity can help make a world of difference. Thank you for your support!

All volunteers should park in the back of the school and enter through the 5/6 cafeteria doors. There will be a staff member to let volunteers in. Please be sure to enter the building by 8:25 am so you have time to get to your classrooms.
Parties are to promote team building and will feature a fun game or activity.
No food allowed.
7/8 parties will take place during lunch. Thank you to all of the 7/8 grade parents who donated to fund these two all grade-level parties!
If you still need to contribute, please send $10 to:

We LOVE our DPM Teachers!
Thank you to Co-Chairs Kim DeNapoli and Marie Woods for organizing a beautiful meal for our DPM teachers!
Thank you to the following DPM families who helped feed our teachers for the fall conference!
In case you missed out—Look for the spring conference sign up to help out the teachers then! 🌸
The GreatFULL Market was started by two DPM students during COVID and we thank all of you for continuing this tradition of helping DPM fight food insecurity in our neighboring town of Waukegan. It’s easy to forget how close food insecurity occurs to home, and we thank you for making a difference.
Cheers,
Kristin McCain, DPM APT President
