Experiential Education Opportunities for ALL students
Chelsea Center Courses 2025-2026
Parents, it is hard to believe, but the course registration process for the 2025-2026 school year will begin for students on December 5. The Chelsea Center offers several courses you might want to review and consider as a family. Whether a student is college-bound or aiming for the workforce after graduation, building a resume that highlights dynamic pursuits to develop strengths is important. Students can spark, sustain, and stretch their interests through the following Chelsea Center courses; look for their full descriptions in the soon-to-be-released course catalog and contact center Director Dr. Kerry Arens at arens.kerry@wgmail.org for further information!
Teaching and Learning Cohort (gr. 11-12): Study the art of teaching through seminar style coursework and student teaching experiences in WGSD classrooms. This Grow-Your-Own program aims to invest in future educators with the hope they will join WGSD faculty after college.
Passion Pursuit Experience (gr. 9-12): What lights you up inside? Co-design a process to dive deep into an interest you have, be paired with an expert mentor, and work in a cycle of experiences supported by reflection, analysis, and experimentation.
Internship Experience (gr. 9-12): Explore a potential career through hands-on, project-based learning with a company or nonprofit. We have some community partners ready to host interns now, and can also work to develop new partnerships to align with your professional interests.
Service Learning Experience (gr. 9-12): Create change and be changed: In this service learning class, address human and community needs through hands-on exploration of the many ways local organizations serve as catalysts for change. Next, co-design service projects and experiences that impact both you and your community.
Reminder: We can help students who are pursuing their A+ hours find connections to service learning that include the mentorship or job shadowing components the A+ program requires. Have your students stop by to talk with us, or independently explore their GivePulse account opportunity listings by using their school google email credentials at wgsd.givepulse.com.
