CAASPP State Testing Starts Tomorrow!
Please get to school on time!!!
Oakwood Huskies in 3rd-6th grade will be participating in the statewide administration of the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) on the following dates:
Students will be testing on the following days
3rd Grade: April 14-18, 21-25 (120 minutes per day)
4th Grade: April 14-18, 21-25(120 minutes per day)
5th Grade: April 14-18, 21-25 (120 minutes per day)
6th Grade: April 14-18, 21-25 (120 minutes per day)
Oakwood Huskies will be given the following assessments:
Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBA), 3rd-6th Grades: The Smarter Balanced ELA and Mathematics assessments reflect California’s rigorous standards and allows students to demonstrate analytical writing and critical thinking skills as well as their fact knowledge.
California Science Test (CAST) & California Alternate Assessment for Science (CAA),
5th Grade: California’s state standards for science call for students to think and work like scientists and engineers-asking questions and learning through hands-on investigation and discovery. Students with the most significant cognitive disabilities, as designated in their IEP, are eligible to take the CAA for science.
California Alternate Assessments (CAA), 3rd-6th Grades: Students who have an IEP designating the use of an alternative assessment are eligible to take the CAA in ELA and mathematics. The goal of the CAA is to ensure students with the most significant cognitive disabilities attain increasingly higher achievement levels.
Parents and Guardians:
Have your child get plenty of rest, eat breakfast, and stay positive.
Discuss with your child about doing their personal best every day.
Make every effort to schedule any necessary appointments after school so children are not late and/or pulled out early on testing days
Remind your child to charge his/her Chromebook before coming to school each day.
Please feel free to email (csotelo@lodiusd.net) Mrs. Sotelo with any questions.
Goooooooo Huskies!
Oakwood School Spotlight!
This past week Oakwood welcomed LUSD principals and teacher teams, LUSD superintendent cabinet members and Oakley Unified School District cabinet teams to participate in our first (of many) Oakwood School Spotlight School Tours. Mrs. Sotelo gave a presentation highlighting the efforts from Oakwood's 1st and 4th grade teams over the past few years as we have been implementing a team teaching model. Guests toured 1st and 4th grade classrooms where they observed all students participating in dynamic student groupings during SIPPS (reading) instruction and social-emotional lessons. Guests were able to see how we can strategically provide high level, rigorous instruction for all students, utilizing all teachers (classroom and intervention) as well as our current residents (student teachers) to support students. At the end of our tour, a panel of teachers and residents shared their personal and professional experiences with team teaching. Over this next school year, Oakwood will be implementing team teaching across all grade levels.

Middle School Course Catalog (6-7)
English:
Lodi USD has released a new Middle School Course Catalog! It includes information about core subjects such as English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Science, Physical Education, and foreign languages (available at select sites). Please note that elective offerings vary by school, and site staff will provide additional details. The catalog also includes information about A-G requirements to help families understand college and career readiness. While the College/Career Indicator (CCI) and Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways are part of high school, middle school is a great time to start thinking about future opportunities.
