Once you send your poetry, mark your calendars and plan to attend the Laurel Springs Poetry Showcase on April 23rd at 2:00 PM ET!
April is Poetry Month! Join us!
April 4th, 11th, and 18th we will breakout in the Friday Hangout at 12:00 PM (ET) to talk, share ideas or projects, and just enjoy poetry together. Be sure to bring your creative spirit and maybe a poem to share.
April 10th is Poem in Your Pocket Day with poets.org: Check out some fun ways to participate in this national holiday here
You can also participate in the Dear Poet project (with your parent’s permission) that invites young people in grades five through twelve to write letters in response to poems written and read by award-winning poets.
April 24th at 7:30 PM (ET) with poets.org: Attend the Poetry & the Creative Mind virtual gala
Laurel Springs Poetry Contest Guidelines
1. One submission per student. Deadline is April 11th.
2. Maximum of 50 lines or 350 words.
3. Include the poem's title in the name of the file (Example: title_dewdrops).
4. There will be three grade level categories and three winners in each category--
Lower School Grades K-5 | Middle School Grades 6-8 | Upper School Grades 9-12
5. Register and upload poetry submission to the button below. Then, the poetry panel, made of teachers and students, will use this rubric when deciding on winning poems.
