Halloween
Halloween is Tuesday, October 31st. We celebrate Halloween after school hours with the PTA at the Trunk or Treat Fall Festival. This is a friendly reminder that students should not come to school dressed in costumes on Tuesday the 31st. We hope to see you at the PTA Fall Festival Trunk or Treat!
Keeping Toys at Home
As a reminder, toys are not permitted at school. Students should not be bringing toys, Pokemon Cards, pop-its, etc. to school. These items cause distractions and disruptions to the learning environment.
Students earn special days in the classroom where items may be permitted with permission by the teacher. Your child's teacher will communicate with you if/when the class earns a reward.
Attendance = Opportunity
NFES September Grade Level Attendance Rates:
Goal: 96%
K- 94%
1st-94%
2nd-96%
3rd-96%
4th-96%
5th-96%
The research strongly correlates good attendance with school success and, ultimately, high school graduation. Below are some facts related to attendance that highlight the importance of good school attendance (from Attendance Works, www.attendanceworks.org):
- Poor attendance can influence whether children read proficiently by the end of third grade
- By 6th grade, chronic absence becomes a leading indicator that a student will drop out of high school.
- When students improve their attendance rates, they improve their academic prospects and chances for graduating.
We appreciate your support in establishing positive attendance habits at home and reinforcing the importance of coming to school on time each day. Please let us know how we can support your efforts.
Water Bottles
We allow and encourage students access to water bottles throughout the day. Please help us by:
- labeling your child's water bottle
- sending the water bottle filled with water only each morning
- letting us know if your child needs a water bottle so we can provide one to them
We only allow water in the classroom during the day because of spills/clean up and protecting materials.
