It’s a great day at RVA!!!

Did you know that Richmond Virtual Academy took home the most awards at this year's RPS 2024 Student Recognition and Awards Breakfast held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at the Omini Hotel in Richmond??? Check out the photos of this beautiful occasion and a special shout out to our RVA Owl Award Winners in this issue of The Hoot Family Newsletter! Let's go RVA Owls!!!

Also, we are wrapping up SOL testing this week:) If your RVA Owl scholar is scheduled to take an SOL test at Henderson Middle School, please remember to bring your scholar to Door 6 on your designated testing day. Door 6 is located near the bus loop on the right side of the school. Do not report to the main office. Our team will be available at Door 6 to check your scholar in. Check in begins at 9am and closes at 9:30am. Pick up is also at Door 6 and is between 12noon and 12:30pm. Parents will be contacted directly if your child finishes the test early or needs additional time. If you have any questions or concerns, please refer to the previously sent Testing Letters, reach out to your child's teacher, or connect with our site testing coordinators, Mrs. Tiffany Lindfors (tlindfors@rvaschools.net) and Mrs. Melinda Brooks (mbrooks4@rvaschools.net). Each of our RVA Owl award winners received a framed certificate and trophy. In addition, our 2024 Salutatorian and Valedictorian each received a complimentary laptop to support them in their post high school endeavors! We are sooooo proud of all of our Owls for exemplifying what it means to be an Optimal Web-based Learner (OWL)!!! Excellent work and congratulations again!! Hoot Hoot!!

We are so very proud of our eight candidates for graduation this year! They will be the FIRST graduating class of the Richmond Virtual Academy and we are truly excited to be a part of their journey for post high school success! To celebrate their accomplishments RVA hosted a Senior Breakfast Event at Dave & Buster's for our scholars on Thursday, May 16th. Our graduating seniors received their complimentary cap & gown sets, Dave & Buster game cards, and yard signs to display at their homes recognizing and celebrating them for the amazing achievements ahead! We are excited to have been able to partner with Unbreakable Minds for our final Parent Parliament. Unbreakable Minds Coaching was founded in 2021 with a mission to help teens and young adults change their mindset so they can meet the best version of themselves and live their best life with purpose, on purpose. Check out the video below as Yolanda Hall shares tips for parents on mastering mindsets to help build and strengthen parent-child relationships! Hoot Hoot!

Summer School at RPS is held in person only. Virtual Scholars planning to attend summer school will need to report to the summer school location assigned to their zoned school based on their current address. Summer school letters have been mailed out to all families. Please connect with your child's teacher if you did not receive a summer school letter and wish to have your child signed up.
