Memminger Manifest
March 2025

Greetings Memminger Families,
As signs of Spring appear all around us, this is a time when we recognize and appreciate the importance of the home and school partnership.
Spring marks the final quarter of the 2024-2025 school year. This is the time of year when we can refocus and ensure a successful year-end. Schedules for homework and sleep are essential at this time. Communication between home and school is also key at this point in the year. We want to work collaboratively to give your children the tools they need to end the year and succeed beyond this year and Memminger.
Please don't forget that the Memminger PTO auction is on March 28th. Don't hesitate to contact a PTO member (memmingerpto.com) for tickets or more information about the event.

National Read Across America Week
BEANSTACK!
Beanstack uses competition, recognition, and proven gamification principles to motivate students to read and develop a life-long love of reading. Whether your student chooses fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, or articles online, any and all reading counts in Beanstack! By tracking their daily reading, your student will begin to build healthy reading habits and become a more confident reader.
When students log their reading via Beanstack’s web or mobile app, they:
● Earn digital badges as they reach milestones
● Compete on leaderboards and build streaks for reading every day
● Track everything they read on their virtual bookshelf

Check out our Memminger IB Brochure for an overview of the program.
Don’t Forget!
If you are looking for something to ask your child about their day, ask what connections they have made in their IB Unit of Study. If your child makes a connection to IB, fill out this google form and they will earn a prize.PBIS (Positive Behavioral Intervention & Supports)
We are gearing up for a March Madness Team Challenge that fits with our IB Attributes in Action focus: Being Thinkers & Reflective. Each week during March, classes will collect and chart when students “Show Their Thinking” through conversations, writing, drawing, and solving problems.
Each week of the challenge will have a different content area focus, and at the end of the week, the student thinking opportunities will be tallied up and a winning team will be announced. An overall winner will be announced at the end of the challenge. We hope this challenge gets our students excited to show all that they are learning to get ready for our Spring iReady testing that is coming up at the end of March.
Congratulations to a few of our students who earned Attributes in Action slips during February for being Open-Minded and Inquirers. These students had their names drawn on the news show during the last week in February and got to choose a new book to take home.
Related Arts
This Month's Spotlight: Music
During the month of February, Music was learning about Antonio Vivaldi and his piece, “The Four Seasons.” Each week we would learn about a different season and learn different chants that went with the season. We also worked on using our desk bells to play along with the music in a simplified Youtube video that I made for them. They were also introduced to the different instruments of the strings family in the orchestra.
IB Clubs
This month in Spanish Club, we explored the vibrant culture of Argentina. Every other week, we dove into different aspects of Argentine culture, while the alternating weeks were spent preparing simplified versions of traditional Argentine foods.
For example, one week, students had fun making alfajores — popular sandwich cookies made with two shortbread cookies filled with creamy dulce de leche. The following week, we learned about Iguazú Falls, and the students painted their own colorful interpretations of the waterfalls using watercolors.

Why the 'Memminger Manifest'?
When used in maritime, the term 'manifest' refers to the document where a ship's cargo, passengers, and crew are listed. This detailed list is used for customs clearance and port operations.
Since Memminger's mascot is the Mariners, we wanted to stay true to the maritime theme. Think of Memminger as our ship and this 'Manifest' as the detailed list of all that is happening in our school. We hope our families find it both informative and reliable resource for all things Memminger!
