It’s hard to believe, but winter break is just 2 ½ weeks away! This time of year is always filled with excitement as we enjoy special activities and celebrate the season together. However, it’s also important to remember that we still have important learning and work to accomplish before the break begins.

As the holidays draw near, we often see an increase in student challenges with focus and behavior. Late nights watching holiday movies, visits with loved ones, and the general excitement of the season can make it hard for children to stay on track. We need your partnership in reminding your students of our shared expectations for their best behavior and effort when they’re at school. A good night’s sleep and consistency at home go a long way in supporting your child’s success!

Thank you for working alongside us to make this season both joyful and productive. On behalf of our entire staff, I wish you and your family a happy holiday season and a wonderful start to the new year.

We’re thrilled to introduce a wonderful new addition to our Buchanan Elementary School team, Holly Orange. Mrs. Orange works with one of our fourth graders.

She lives right here in Buchanan with her husband, Lee, and their busy household that includes their two daughters, Tabatha and Brooke, as well as an adorable puppy named Maverick, a turtle, and four chickens!

In her free time, she enjoys an exciting mix of activities, including racing, tractor pulls, swimming, gardening, and curling up with a good book. Her favorite color is blue, and she loves indulging in delicious ribs.

She’s a proud graduate of Rockbridge County High School and is eager to bring her energy and enthusiasm to our school community. This year, she’s looking forward to meeting everyone, tackling new challenges, and making her first year at Buchanan Elementary a fantastic one!
