The Terrapin Times #13
A Leader in Me School - October 25, 2024
Dear Families,
Thank you Archana and the Foundation team for the incredible Harvest Festival! Thank you for giving our students a wonderful memory of Turtleback. Thank you families for bringing your kids and sharing in the festivities. A great time was had by all!
Halloween is this Thursday and I know you're excited about dressing up! When picking your costume, here are a few things to keep in mind:
Be Creative: Choose something fun that shows your imagination! You can be anything from a superhero to an animal, or even your favorite book character.
Respect Others: Avoid costumes that might hurt someone's feelings or make fun of someone's culture or identity. It's important to be kind, even on Halloween!
Comfort & Safety: Make sure you can move easily and see clearly. Avoid masks that block your vision and costumes that could trip you up while you're trick-or-treating.
School Rules: If you're wearing your costume to school, remember to follow the rules—no scary or violent costumes, and no toy weapons.
Let’s have a spook-tacular, fun, and safe Halloween! 🎃
If you haven't had a chance to complete the parent California Healthy Kids Survey, here is the link to complete. Please take a moment to complete, it will help our staff with valuable data to make action plans. The survey link closes on November 8th.
Important Upcoming Dates:
- Week of October 28: Red Ribbon Week - Spirit Week (see dress up days above)
- October 31st: Costume Parade @ 8:00, early release for all students dismissing at 11:55. Please join us at 8:00 - see map below.
- Friday, November 1st - Awards and Friday Flag (awards @ 7:15, and Friday Flag starts @ 8:00)

Attendance Reminder: Next week is a full week of school for elementary students (including an early release day on Thursday). However, on Monday, October 28th our district’s middle schools and high schools have a professional growth day. We look forward to seeing our elementary students and engaging in a day of learning on October 28th.
Friday, November 1st: After reviewing district-wide data regarding attendance, the day after Halloween, there has been a pattern of increased absences. Please help our school by making attendance a priority on Friday, November 1st.
Parents, please be cautious when driving in our parking lot. We've noticed a lot of cars driving fast and we want to keep our students safe. We want to remind everyone not to get out of the vehicle when you are dropping off or picking up. We appreciate your support.
Thank you,
Lisa Maguire
Thank you "Garden Party" Volunteers! So beautiful!
