Our staff is excited about the opportunity to work with you to help your child grow in so many ways. We can’t wait to see you during our upcoming welcome back to school events. Please refer to the Family Mustang Memo for important upcoming dates regarding 6th grade and new family orientations, open house/learning conferences, and the start of the school year.
WELCOME TO THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR!
We are excited to welcome students back on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. The Mustang Memo is a newsletter sent to families of Maple Grove Middle School. It is one of the ways we communicate with families important information of upcoming events and activities. Another way to keep up to date is to look at our website https://mgms.district279.org/. We also communicate with families through email. If you change your email., please update it through ParentVue.
7th & 8th GRADE ORIENTATION FOR STUDENTS & PARENTS WHO HAVE NEVER ATTENDED MGMS
LEARNING CONFERENCES/OPEN HOUSE FOR NEW & RETURNING STUDENTS & PARENTS
On Wednesday, August 28th from 4-7 PM is our Learning Conferences/OPEN HOUSE. This open house format allows you and your student to meet the teachers, learn what will be covered in the class, and practice walking through the student's schedule.
You will receive an email when schedules are posted to ParentVue, or StudentVue. PLEASE BRING YOUR CHILD'S SCHEDULE TO THIS EVENT. Student lockers will also be digitally assigned, you will see the student's locker number on the schedule. You may bring your school supplies (bring a lock for your locker if you plan to leave your school supplies at school).
Donations: If you plan to donate Clorox wipes, Kleenex, pencils and other school supplies, these would be given to your child’s advisory teacher. Most teachers have an advisory class but some don’t. Any extra supplies can be dropped off in the main office for non-advisory teachers to access.
NEWS FROM THE NURSE
Please stop by the Nurse's Office during open house to drop off doctor orders, medications, or discuss accommodations for health concerns/injuries. Open House: Wednesday, August 28 from 4:00-7:00 PM.
PACT Group Needs You
Hello MGMS Families:
We need your help and expertise! The PTO at MGMS is called PACT (Parents and Community Together). We work to build a strong, inclusive community at MGMS. Joining the board or co-leading an event is a fantastic way to get involved and make a difference!
We’re looking to fill the following roles ASAP so we can continue to offer opportunities for our students and support for the staff. If interested, contact Kendra Grand at KendraGrand356@gmail.com.
President (PTO/PACT Board)
It’s not as scary as it sounds. If you’re passionate about continuing to build a positive school environment and you have decent executive functioning skills, you can do this. The President oversees seven PACT meetings, consults board members before meetings to set and align agenda, fosters positive relationships with parents/caregivers and staff, ensures the work of the board is aligned with MGMS administration priorities and PACT mission, and oversees definition and completion of annual goals.
Communications Coordinator (PTO/PACT Board)
Be the person who writes emails like this one! The Communications Coordinator works with the PACT board and MGMS staff to communicate to the MGMS community the PACT vision and ways to get involved to make an impact. Good organization skills, written communication skills and attention to detail is key.
Co-Lead for MGMS Night at Ninjas United (Oct 5)
Do you like to oversee logistics and carry out a plan? This is a great event to co-lead. Most of the big stuff is decided—we simply need a parent/guardian to help execute the plan alongside our Student Wellness Team. You will partner with Ninjas United as well as the Student Wellness Team and leader to organize a fun night where students can gather with their MGMS friends at Ninjas United. They’ll enjoy a ninja warrior course, inflatables, warped wall, yard games, bonfire, arcade games, and more.
Co-Lead for Fundraiser (Sept 30-Oct 11)
Co-Lead the MGMS Fall Fundraiser with a seasoned veteran. Just do it. There’s no better time to give this a try! You’ll literally be helping someone who has done this before. This is such an important initiative—it defines our budget and how much we can fund the rest of the year’s events. Give it a shot!
