📓 NACS COMMUNITY DAY 2024: On Saturday, June 1, 2024, NACS will be hosting a community day! This event will consist of a community resource fair, fun activities for children, food truck vendors, and we are excited to host a "Family Market!" We are inviting our NACS parents, guardians, & family members with businesses to come table at our community to provide information about your business to the community, provide resources to other and/or sell your items. Please note, there will be NO FOOD VENDORS ACCEPTED. SPACE IS LIMITED AND WILL BE FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED. We are also looking for volunteers to assist with this event. 📓 All students of Northwood will receive a FREE Northwood T-Shirt for Field Day. If you have not done so already please complete this form as soon as possible to secure a shirt for your child. 📓 Save the Date! Big Smiles Dental Mobile will be at our school on May 28th to provide dental cleanings and much more. Take note, sign ups occurred during parent-teacher conferences.

PSSAs:
Please see below for all current PSSA-related updates and reminders.
1. Science PSSAs continue through tomorrow, May 2nd, for 4th and 8th grades.
2. Make-up testing window for all subjects (ELA, Math, Science) begins Friday, May 3rd.
3. All completed tests will be returned to the district by May 3rd and we will have scores available by June 4th.
4. Make-up testing will occur Friday, May 3rd- Friday, May 10th - If your child has missed one or more PSSA sections, it is imperative that they be at school on time every day to ensure they are able to complete their assessment within the state's window. Thank you!

National Children's Mental Health Awareness Month: May is National Children's Mental Health Awareness Month, a time everyone can learn about and promote positive youth development, resilience, recovery, and the transformation of mental health services delivery for children and youth and their families.
Children’s mental health is important because it affects how they think, feel, and behave. It can impact areas like:
- Foundation for Lifelong Well-being
- Academic Performance
- Social Relationships
- Physical Health and more!

The Literacy Enrichment Afterschool Program (LEAP) offers K-12 out-of-school programming in Neighborhood Libraries. This programming fosters an inclusive, informal learning environment for children, teens, and families, with accessible learning activities that build on life skills, Maker philosophies, and wellness concepts.
McIlvain Playground:
McIlvain Playground Community Day: 5/18, 8am-2pm:
McIlvain is hosting a Flea Market and Community Day on Saturday, May 18th from 8am - 2pm.

Heitzman Summer Camp 2024!
Open Registration will take place Monday-Friday 3-8pm, beginning Monday 2/26/24.
When: Monday - Friday
July 1 - August 16, 2024 (no camp 7/4 & 7/5)
Time: 9AM – 3PM (Before and After camp care available)
Cost: $50 per week or $325/total encampment ($20 non-refundable registration fee required at registration)
Ages: 6-12. No child can be 13 before 7/1/24. 6 year old’s must have completed Kindergarten to attend camp.

Here’s how it works:
- Submit an anonymous tip report through the Safe2SaySomething system
- The crisis center reviews and processes all submissions
- The crisis center sends all submissions to school administration and/or law enforcement for intervention
- If needed, the crisis center may contact the tipster anonymously through the app

FAMILIES IN TRANSITION: NORTHWOOD IS HERE TO HELP
If you and your family lack fixed, regular, or adequate housing (for example, living in a shelter, transitional home, or even doubled-up with other people) due to loss of housing or economic hardship, you may qualify for certain rights and protections under the federal McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, which ensures educational stability for students experiencing homelessness.
