Job Interview Process

Before the Interview
- Research all that you can about the company so you can show your employer your interest.
- Know where your going and who your getting interviewed by and find the correct pronunciation of their name.
- Prepare several resumes and cover letters on quality paper.
During the Interview
- Ask how you address your interviewer.
- Treat all people professionally.
- Be ready to talk about a skill you have.
- Listen carefully to the interviewer and answer all questions asked.
5 Common Interview Questions
- Tell me about yourself: Don't tell them about your favorite things to do. Tell them about your experience in your position and accomplishments you felt really good about.
- What is your greatest weakness: Don't say anything that would be a critical part of the job.
- What did you like least about your last job: Don't be negative about it. Try to talk about the better things that you didn't like about the jobs.
- Where do you see yourself in 5 years: Not really a good answer to this question but you should say something generally like I hope to be well established as someone who is helping that.
- Tell me about a time you failed: Think about a time a work related incident didn't go so well.
After the interview
Ask for their business card.
Send a thank you note with specific details.
follow up in 1-2 weeks if not given a specific time frame.
If someone else has been hired send a follow up note that says you enjoyed the interview.
Dressing for men
- Suit
- Long sleeve shirt (white or coordinated with the suit)
- Belt
- Tie
- Dark socks, conservative leather shoes
- Little or no jewelry
- Neat, professional hairstyle
- Limit the aftershave
- Neatly trimmed nails
- Portfolio or briefcase
Dressing for Women
- Suit (navy, black or dark grey)
- The suit skirt should be long enough so you can sit down comfortably
- Coordinated blouse
- Conservative shoes
- Limited jewelry (no dangling earrings or arms full of bracelets)
- No jewelry is better than cheap jewelry
- Professional hairstyle
- Neutral pantyhose
- Light make-up and perfume
- Neatly manicured clean nails
- Portfolio or briefcase
