Queen of Apostles School
Term 3 Week 7 - Thursday 31 August, 2023
Making Jesus Real (MJR) Gathering
Tomorrow morning after the Father’s Day breakfast at 8.50am we have our MJR gathering.
At this gathering one special student from each class (PP to Yr 6) will receive an award for showing the spirit of Jesus in their life. This could be helping our classmates when hurt or upset, using manners, showing gratitude, or even trying your best in everything you do. It’s a special award and one the recipients should be very proud of.
Father’s Day
We are really looking forward to the Father’s Day breakfast tomorrow morning in the undercover area starting at 7.30am. For those who have ordered you can look forward to a yummy breakfast shared with your child/children.
I thank our P&F and our Year 2 mums for organising this for our dads and father figures. It promises to be another wonderful event for our school.
I wish all our dads a happy Father’s Day on Sunday. I hope you get spoilt!
Father's Day Stall
Tomorrow the students will be able to buy a gift for dad at the Father’s Day Stall. Please see the poster in the P&F section of this newsletter for details.
I thank our P&F for organising both the breakfast and the stall for our community. If Mother’s Day was anything to go by it should be a great morning.
School Photos
Our school photo day for 2023 is next Wednesday 6th September for our Kindy to Year 6 classes with the Pre-Kindy students having their photo on Tuesday 12th.
This year we are again using Photo Hendricks for our school photos. As Term 3 is a winter term, I would like all students to be in full winter uniform. A reminder to parents that students need to bring their pre-labelled envelope to school on Photo Day to hand to the photographer.
Music Assembly
Next Friday morning (8th September) at 8.50am in the hall a range of students will be showcasing their musical talents at the music assembly. We have some very talented musicians here at QOA and I am very much looking forward to seeing them perform. I thank Mrs Perry for organising.
Athletics
Over the next three weeks, we have the following athletics events planned for our students:
Friday 8th September 10am = Kindy & PP Athletics Morning on Annexe Oval
Friday 15th September 9.30am = Yr. 3 to 6 Jumps & Throws on Annexe Oval
Monday 18th September = Yr. 1 to 6 Athletics Carnival at Ern Clarke Oval in Cannington
A note containing information about the carnivals has been sent home to all families. I thank Mr Bridgeman for all his hard work in preparing for these wonderful days that the students really enjoy. I hope the weather is kind.
Quiz Night
On Friday 20th October the P&F Quiz night is taking place in the hall beginning at 6.30pm. Events like these are fantastic for our community and really add to our sense of belonging.
Obviously, a great deal of work goes into organising an event like this and I would like to thank the P&F for the amazing job in coordinating this event so far. There are many donations and great prizes coming in. We even have a signed and framed Sam Kerr Australia jersey as one of the auction items. You certainly don’t want to miss out on an opportunity to bid on this!
Get your table together and register via the poster in the P&F section of the newsletter. It promises to be a lot of fun!

Interschool Spelling Bee
The Interschool Spelling Bee was held yesterday at Sacred Heart Primary School Thornlie with nine schools from south of the river participating. This regional competition provides an opportunity for all students in Years 4-6 to represent Queen of Apostles on the ‘Spelling Stage’.
Congratulations to the following students who were selected to represent the school in the knock-out tournament:
Year 4: James and Olivia
Year 5: Patrick and Martina
Year 6: Yuet-Ee and Sophie
All our students showed amazing determination and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Congratulations to James in Year 4 who took out 3rd Place (1st place tied). Well done to everyone who participated on the day. The school community is very proud of you.
Kindy 2025 - Places Filling Fast
The Kindy 2025 class is filling fast so we remind families to submit applications as soon as possible for children born between 1 July 2020 and 30 June 2021.
We conduct our interviews 2 years in advance and have already held interviews this year for families who had lodged applications earlier. The class is now over half full.
This year we have had a number of disappointed families who have missed out on a place in Kindy for 2024 because the class was already filled before they sent in their applications. If we don't have your application, we don't know you require a position in the class, so please don't wait till it's too late. All enrolment information is on our website or you can call in to the office to pick up an application form.
Pre-Kindy 2024
We have limited places available for Pre-Kindy 2024. Pre-Kindy runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9.00am to 3.00pm and is available to children who have turned 3 years old.
Welcome to our latest P&F Update
Round 23 Footy Tipper of the Week

A fortunate 3 individuals managed to win the tipper of the week title twice, and a special mention goes to Miss Joiner for an impressive three-time win.
However, as the P&F Footy competition draws to a close, it's time to recognise our top achievers. Let's give a round of applause to our winners:

Second Prize - Franz Teran
Third Prize - Zara Lilly
A heartfelt congratulations to all our victors this year! We're already looking forward to next year's competition, aiming for the same level of excitement.
