Summer is Here!
Update on Hinsdale Summer Happenings
Happy Summer 2024!!!
πI hope everyone is enjoying their summer and getting the chance to refresh. We have a lot of changes happening on School St. and when you return you will see a whole bunch of new, eager faces waiting to connect with you. I have included a list of our newest staff members as well as a list of those who have left Hinsdale for various reasons (we will miss them!) after a few other pieces of information.
I wanted to bring to your attention a change in the order of the first three days of your work year. We are welcoming all teachers back to campus on Monday, August 26 to organize and set up classrooms without interruption. We will hold our second annual convocation and districtwide activities on Tuesday, August 27, and schools will conduct all of their respective activities on Wednesday, August 28. Typically the order has been leave alone day, school day, and then district day, however we see it more beneficial to you to have the day before students return dedicated to your building. More details including time and locations will be made available later in the summer.

π Resources for Teachers π
Free Professional Learning Opportunity
The annual Summer Educators Institute will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on July 31 at Keene State College. This yearβs theme is Engaging and Empowering Students and Teachers in Learning. There is no cost to attend this event, which is funded through Title II, Part A funding from NHED and support from the SW Center for Educator Support at KSC. Concurrently, a New Teachers Retreat for newly hired educators with less than three years of teaching experience will also take place with the Summer Educators Institute.
Earn Your Tech Credential
NHED recently launched its UpGrade initiative, which aims to increase the number of educators earning tech credentials, as well as encourage existing technology leaders to receive educator endorsements to teach computer science and similar tech courses. For existing educators, NHED will reimburse the cost of any exams or licensure costs for qualified credentials, up to a total of $2,000. In addition, teachers will receive a stipend for each credential acquired, up to a total of $750. Learn more.
Coaches Needed! β½π
Here is your opportunity to connect with students in a different context through interscholastic athletics. Both the high school varsity cross country team and middle school boys soccer team need a head coach. Both positions pay decent stipends and offer you a chance to continue to participate in a favorite athletic activity that perhaps you either played or coached in the past. If you are interested or know of anyone who is, please refer to the Human Resources page on www.hnhsd.org.
