Click here for more information on the bike permits including the application and online quiz.
PUSD Hosting Mandatory Safety Classes for all ebike Riders
PUSD has partnered with local enforcement to provide classes this Fall
In response to community requests and a desire to address a student safety need, PUSD has partnered with local enforcement to provide mandatory safety classes for all ebike riders. If your child rides their ebike to and from school, attending one of these one-hour classes with a parent or guardian will be a requirement to park their ebike on campus. To provide students ample time to comply, this new requirement will be enforced starting January 6, 2025.
The first group of classes is in September. If you cannot attend one of these classes, additional classes will be scheduled in October (dates TBD). You can attend any one that works with your and your child’s schedule, regardless of where you are located. Advance Registration is not required. One parent or guardian must attend with their child. At the class, you will be asked to register the make and model of the ebike, VIN#, and student ID, so please come prepared with that information. Topics covered will include following the rules of the road, proper helmet usage, the safe operation of ebikes, and more.

NEW! Keep Our Students Safe – A Message from a Concerned Parent
I have a safety concern for the children leaving Mesa Verde through the back gate on Sedorus Street/Ireland Lane and we need your help to request a crosswalk at this location. Please read even if your student doesn’t use this area as we need as many reports to make it happen.
“Students do not have a safe space to cross when entering and leaving Mesa Verde Middle School at the gate located on Sedorus Street/Ireland Lane in Rancho Penasquitos. With limited bus service, there are more students walking and more vehicles on the road and it has become increasingly dangerous for our students: vehicles making illegal turns, parking in front of the curb ramp, speeding, especially when children are around. A couple of near misses were witnessed last week.”
Unfortunately, the school is not able to do anything about it. It must be reported and requested officially. There are two (2) ways to report a road issue. Each one would take one minute if you copy and paste the section in quotes above.
Attention! WE NEED YOU!
School Site Council (SSC) Parent Nominations:
We still need parent nominations! At Mesa Verde we invite innovative leaders from the community to help guide our school. We are looking for parents who want to set an example to their students and/or serve the community by participating in MVMS' SSC. Please click here to nominate yourself, your parent or a peer parent at MVMS.
Student Drop Off
Just a reminder that Student drop off is located in the 6th Grade/West parking lot and in front of the
school. For the safety of our students and staff, the Staff/East parking lot nearest to Russet Leaf and the Administration Building is closed for dropping off students for the safety of our students
and staff.
New! After School Badminton Club
San Diego Badminton Academy is offering an after school Badminton Club for all ages and skill levels.
Mt. Carmel Football Games
Attention MVMS parents and students!
Middle school students that choose to attend Mt. Carmel football games must be accompanied by their parent/guardian. Groups of students will no longer be allowed entrance with one parent. Middle school students that come to games without their parent/guardian will be denied entry. After entering the stadium all students are expected to find seats in the Home Section for the duration of the game. Students may visit the snack bar and restrooms during the game, but they are not allowed to congregate in the area next to the snack bar and behind the home side press box. If students choose to stand in large groups in these locations, they will be asked to take their seats. If they do not follow directions, they will be asked to leave the game without refund.
MCHS appreciates your support!
Eagle Agenda

MVMS Volunteers 2024-2025
Thank you for your time and energy you contribute to the students and staff at MVMS.
The difference between a guest, a visitor and a volunteer as per the PUSD board policies.
Visitors are individuals visiting a classroom as a guest lecture, college representative, and those helping with an event. Staff preapproval is required and please be sure to bring a photo id with you when you check-in at the front office on your day of arrival.
Volunteers are individuals that help on campus on a regular basis and have completed the required volunteer paperwork to become a volunteer.
All visitors and volunteers visiting campus must be prearranged by a staff member contacting the administration office prior to the visit. All visitors and volunteers are required to sign in at the front office and wear the printed name tag each day you are on campus. This will help us to identify people on our campus in maintaining a safe campus.
Interested in becoming a volunteer? Once you have connected with a staff member in need of a volunteer, the next step to become a volunteer is to complete the required forms.
1) Megan's Law background check Volunteer Application form (annually)
2) Provide a current TB test (valid for 4 years from the Read Date), including chest x-rays. X-rays over 4 years old MUST be accompanied by a California School Employee Tuberculosis Risk Assessment Questionnaire, that is valid for 4 years, as well.
3) Code of Conduct form (annually)
4) Code of Confidentiality form (annually).
Bring all requested documents to the front office along with your current driver license or passport. Your Megan's Law background check Volunteer Application form will be submitted to the PUSD district office for processing. Once all documents have been processed, you will be ready to begin volunteering. If you are a current volunteer at another PUSD school or are a current PUSD staff member wanting to become a volunteer, please complete all of the required volunteer forms as each school site is required to have their own current volunteer documents.SPORTS

Dropping Off Items
If a student forgets an item at home, such as homework, P.E. clothes, band instruments, phones, lunch money, or lunches, parents are permitted to bring those items to school; however, we will not deliver the item or a message about the item to students. Students may check in at the office during passing periods or lunch to retrieve a forgotten item. This is to encourage students to be responsible for the items they need on a daily basis and keep our student’s classroom interruptions to a minimum. At no time will individual or group online/call-in food orders be allowed for delivery.
Free Breakfast and Lunch for Students
Students can pick up their breakfast in the cafeteria after 7:30am.
Please have your student memorize and/or write down their student ID number in order to get breakfast or lunch. This will help the lunch lines move quickly!
All students are encouraged to eat lunch first and then wait to be released down to the donut area and Eagle Center.
Please remind your child to throw their trash away in the trash can and encourage others to do the same. This will help keep our campus looking exquisite and inviting.
Thank you for your support!
Access to the Office
Attendance Information
In order to better serve our families and record and track absences, we will be asking parents to report absences via a Google Form as opposed to calling them in to our attendance office. Only parents/caregivers may complete the form and the email and phone number listed must match those in Synergy. Please click on the link below, which can also be found on our website and the included Contact List.
Tardies
Students are required to be on time to class, ready to learn. After the bell rings at 8am (or 9:03am on Wednesdays), students must enter through the front office and check in at the attendance office to receive a tardy slip. If students are tardy and arrive to class without a tardy slip, they will be asked to return to the attendance office to check in. The following consequences will be in place for students who are tardy to the first period of the school day:
- Up to 5 in a school year: automatic reminder phone calls and/or emails
- 6 in a school year: phone conference with parent or legal caregiver
- 7+ in a school year: one after school detention per subsequent tardy
Please see the Eagle Agenda or school website for additional information on excused and unexcused tardies, as well as tardies that occur during the school day.
Health Office Information
Does Your Student Need Medication at School?
Poway Unified School District philosophy is that parents bear the primary responsibility in providing medication for their students. Whenever possible, medication should be administered at home. Parents have the option to personally administer medication to their child at any time during the school day. Health assistance can be provided to support student learning and attendance. Medication administration is provided under the direction and indirect supervision of the resource nurses in Health Services. If a student needs medication during the school day, the following procedure must be followed, according to Ed Code:
- Complete an Authorization for Medication Administration form (H-26) for all prescriptions, over the counter, and herbal medication. The form requires signatures by both the parent and the student’s physician. The physician must be licensed in the state of California.
- The completed form should be given to the Health Technician at the same time as you deliver the medication.
- The medication must be in a pharmacy-labeled container stating the student’s full name, medication name, proper dosage, and time to be given.
Please check the expiration date on all medication you provide to the school site and update this medication as needed.
- Long term medication: Provide no more than a 1 month supply and replenish the medication as needed.
- Over-the-counter medication (i.e. Benadryl, Tylenol, or herbal medication): Medication must be in original container clearly labeled with student’s name. Parent and physician authorization is required.
- Sunscreen and Throat Lozenges/Cough Drops may be administered to preschool/elementary school students with parent authorization only by completing and signing the top portion of the H-26 form. A physician signature is not required. All products must be in original packaging and labeled with the student’s name. No authorization for Sunscreen and Throat Lozenges/Cough Drops is required for Middle School or High School students.
- Epi-pens and Epinephrine auto-injectors: A Potential Anaphylactic Reaction form (H-58) should be completed and signed by physician and parent. (H-26 form is not necessary)
- Asthma: Please provide spacers for inhalers, if indicated, and review your child’s use of the inhaler with the school site Health Technician.
- ESS and Medication: Health Technician and ESS Coordinator can communicate and share forms. However, you must provide separate containers of medication for each location.
Note: Poway Unified School District has a “zero tolerance” drug policy for all students.
Do not put your child at risk of receiving disciplinary action! Don’t send your child to school with any medication unless you have followed the medication procedure. Remember, even Tylenol or Advil are considered to be drugs.
Students may carry their own medication only if they are responsible and an Authorization to Carry Medication While at School form (H-26B) has been signed by the physician, parent, and student.
