Thanks to everyone who came out for Back to School Bash on September 6! Next, we turn our attention to the next big fundraising event for the year - our Run of Champions scheduled for October 18! Keep reading to learn more about this exciting event, where we hope to raise $30,000 to support Oak Ridge!

Our next Home & School meeting is on Tuesday, October 1 at 7 PM in the Oak Ridge library! Come hear about plans for the upcoming Run of Champions and Family Fun Nights, and find out who won the drawing for Where in the World was OAKIE! All parents/guardians are welcome to attend.

Our first family fun night will be on Thursday, October 10th at Urban Air Adventure Park in Royersford, PA! The event will be from 5:30pm to 8pm. The cost is $27 per jumper which includes socks and pizza. More information and the link to register can be found here.

We are about two weeks away from kicking off our Run of Champions fundraiser. You can sign up to help our school on mybooster.com starting Wednesday, September 25! The Run of Champions occurs during the school day and is planned for Friday, October 18 (with a rain date of October 25). Get excited for

Thank you to all the families who attended BASH and a special thank you to volunteers who contributed their time and donated supplies and treats to make this event a success year after year!

H&S was happy to bring back pizza & soft pretzels, have a DJ, and keep this event at no cost admission for families. We were able to offset the costs of having a DJ and food through contributions from our two sponsors, DCO Orthodontics and Banes Roofing, as well as cash raised from the raffle. This brought our out of pocket expenses down to $585. Kona Ice is always a big hit, and we would like to thank them for issuing a commission check of $479!

Home & School also contributed $6,375 towards field trips to help reduce out of pocket cost for parents.

We are now gearing up for our big fundraiser, the Run of Champions. We rely on events like these to support Home & School efforts. All money we raise goes back to our Oak Ridge community. We look forward to having a very successful fundraiser so H&S can continue to support all the wonderful things for the students and school.

Also, a reminder as we are a 501(c)3 and can accept company matches and cash donations, a confirmation letter can be issued for tax deduction (where eligible) purposes upon request.

In October, we are excited to host Afterschool Rec for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. Events will occur rain or shine, immediately after school until 4:30PM. These events are a combination of physical and other fun activities to appeal to all interests. Sign-up information will come home with your student(s) soon, but the sign-up links are also below. These events cannot happen without volunteers. Please consider volunteering.

In October, Oakie's Caring Hearts outreach will have our first Group Volunteer Event offsite where Oak Ridge families will help our community in need. All Oak Ridge families are invited to participate.

We hope you will join us Monday, October 14th (there is no school that day) from 9AM to 1PM at the Garden of Health Community Farm in Hatfield for planting, weeding, picking, watering, and other gardening jobs. This event is weather-permitting. Sign-up information will come home with your student(s) soon, but the sign-up link is also below. Additional spots may be opened if needed. Please email oakiescaringhearts@gmail.com with any questions or issues with registration. **This is not a drop off event. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult when volunteering on the farm.

Some notes for those attending: The address for Garden of Health Farm is 500 Fairgrounds Rd, Hatfield PA 19440. Please park in the park parking lot and walk over to the farm entrance. A representative of the Farm as well as Heather Markus from Oak Ridge H&S will meet you onsite. Depending on weather, be prepared with sunscreen, hat and water. We will be working in the sun. Also, bring gardening gloves, wear boots or sneakers (no open-toe shoes or sandals) and clothing you don't mind getting dirty.

Jump rope club has started!! Please sign up to turn the ropes while the kids jump during their lunch recesses. Kindergarten through second grade is from 10:30 to 11:30. Third grade through fifth graders jump from 11:30 to 12:30. We need at two volunteers per hour to have it! Thank you!!!
