A Message To Families From Mr. Peck
Riverview Families,
Parent/Teacher conferences are right around the corner. Please click this link to sign up for a time to meet with your child's teacher on either Tuesday, March 4 or Thursday, March 6. Please remember that March 6 is an early release day, with dismissal happening two hours early at 12:10. Historically, Riverview has had incredibly high turnout for conferences and we hope to continue that trend this year!
Also, as I Love To Read Month continues on, I want to remind you to be extra intentional about reading at home each night. I know families are extremely busy these days, but please make reading a priority. There is so much research that supports the notion that spending time reading each night (or being read to) leads to big gains in reading achievement, enjoyment of school, and success in all areas of school and beyond. We appreciate your partnership as we work to ensure our learners are great readers and it is absolutely having an impact. We just closed our winter assessment window and the gains our learners are making are truly remarkable. Please keep encouraging your child to read each night and to read a variety of genres (graphic novels, chapter books, non-fiction, historical fiction, etc.). It is making a difference! If you want more access to audio books for your child, please connect with your child's teacher about options.
Thank you for your partnership and support. Best wishes for a great week! Read, read, read...
Shawn Peck
Principal

2. Played basketball in high school
3. Went zip lining in Costa Rica
4. Considers popcorn to be their favorite food
Who could it be? Watch the video below to find out and to hear a cute story fitting for Valentines Day!

Consider Donating To Our Tiger Pantry!
Food insecurity is a common issue many families are facing throughout Minnesota and right here in Farmington. Riverview keeps a "Tiger Pantry" stocked in our front lobby that is accessible to any family who needs it. We rely on donations from Riverview families and community members to keep it stocked and are always open to your generosity.
The two photos below show the status of our Tiger Pantry recently:
- The top photo shows it as of 2 weeks ago when donations were running pretty thin
- The bottom photo shows what we want to keep it looking like. This was taken after we received a very generous donation from a community group.
If you are willing/able to help supply our Tiger Pantry and support our friends/neighbors who are experiencing food insecurity at home, please drop off any non-perishable food at the main office. We are grateful for the impressive generosity of the Riverview community!

We Need Your Help! We Are In Need of More Paraprofessional Substitutes
Our paraprofessionals are a vital part of our team and they do so much every day for our students. Like everyone, they have to miss work from time to time due to illness, family matters, etc. When that happens, it leaves our learners with less support. And unfortunately, often times these absences go "unfilled" due to a shortage of capable and willing subs. That is why we are asking for people in our Riverview community to consider being a para sub. The pay is $15 per hour and you can work as much (or as little) as you want. Whether you sub one day or every day, each time you enter a classroom, you are responsible for the helping the most important resource we have in our school -- our children.
If you would like to sign up to sub as a teacher or paraprofessional for the Farmington Schools you will have to apply through Teachers on Call (TOC). Please email or call TOC directly at 1800-713-4439 or apply online at teachersoncall.com.
Keep On Reading Every Night at Home! It Makes a HUGE Difference!
