Week of October 14 - October 18
Principal's Message
Dear BES families,
Please remember that there is no school tomorrow, October 14th, as we honor Indigenous Peoples' Day. Indigenous Peoples' Day is a holiday that celebrates the history, culture, and contributions of Indigenous peoples in the United States. It's a day to recognize the strength and resilience of Indigenous communities, and to acknowledge the sacrifices they've made to the country
Our Step It Up fundraiser to grow our Animal Science and Farm program has been a huge success with less than a week in! We set a school goal at $50,000 and we are only $4,000 away from that goal! Thank you to our families and community members who are working hard to encourage the growth of an amazing opportunity for our students! There is still plenty of time to get those donations in! the fundraiser ends on October 22. The top 5 students with the highest fundraising amount will get to bring a friend for pizza with the principal!
We are beginning a school wide attendance incentive program to promote school attendance. The top three classes each month with the highest percentage of attendance will earn a classroom trophy for the month and an extra recess. Each student with 100% attendance at our Leadership Rally will be recognized and, in conjunction with the PTA, will receive a certificate for a free treat at our monthly PTA Fun Friday event.
As a parent myself, I completely understand that sometimes it's necessary to check your child out early for things like doctorās appointments or other important commitments. However, weāve recently seen an increase in early checkouts, and we just wanted to kindly remind everyone that these can sometimes disrupt not only your childās learning but also the whole class. When the office needs to call into a classroom, it interrupts the lesson and can take everyoneās focus away.
We really appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us minimize these disruptions. Thank you for your continued support in making the classroom a great place for learning!
Warmly,
Allison Fortney

Bonsall Elementary School is a proud Purple Star School
As a Purple Star School, BES is committed to supporting the unique educational and social/emotional needs of our military students and families. I am tremendously proud of our commitment to the students and families connected to our nation's military. Thank you to our families, past and present who make so many sacrifices for our country. Drop off and pick up information for Bonsall Elementary School
*You may not park your car or get out of your car in the loading/unloading zone. This is not only a safety issue, but also causes the traffic to back up.
*You can exit the school on Old River Rd ONLY if you park or drop off your student at the Community Center. The only exit from the school parking lot is via Avenida de los PiƱos. While following the traffic pattern, there will be no "left" in order to access the exit through the Community Center onto Old River Rd.
*The bus lane is at the FRONT of the drop off line. No cars will be allowed to access the bus lane. Please be aware that this is extremely important as our buses are on times routes and it is imperative that the assigned bus zone is kept clear of cars at all times.
*The ramp from the adjoining neighborhood is available for use. You can park and walk your student up using the ramp. There will be a staff member on duty to provide support at the crosswalk on the campus.
*The lane closest to the curb is for loading/unloading only. Please make sure students exit on the RIGHT side of the car. The left lane is now a passing lane which makes is extremely dangerous for students to exit on the left side of the car. Students exiting cars in the passing lane was witnessed way too often last year. The last thing we want is for someone to get hurt. Cars are not watching for children darting in front of their cars due to being dropped off incorrectly.
*You can use the Community Center for drop off and pick up.
