Staff Spotlight
School Counselor, Mrs. Judy Bletcher
Hi, TJS families! My name is Judy Bletcher and I am the School Counselor. I have been an educator for twenty-one years and spent sixteen of those years as a classroom teacher. I taught fourth, fifth, and sixth grades here at Torey J and also taught for five years in the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District. My most favorite of these years were spent in co-teaching classrooms, working in tandem with a handful of amazing special education teachers. I am a proud Rutgers University graduate and hold two Master’s degrees, the first in Elementary Education and a second in School Counseling. I am currently working toward earning my professional counseling licensure and in the future, would like to work with children in a clinical setting. Over the years, I have loved working with students in order to help them develop their academic, social and emotional skills. I truly believe that the work that we do at Torey J is a labor of love and I am so grateful to work in such a warm and caring environment.
On a more personal note, I am married and am the proud mom to three elementary-aged children. My oldest, Benjamin is a fifth grader, my son, Zachary is in second grade and my youngest, Arielle is a kindergartener. Much like you, I spend the majority of my time at home helping my kids with homework, chauffeuring them to activities and attempting to keep up with folding the laundry. When I find a few spare moments, I love to play tennis, exercise, meet up with friends and take trips into New York City. Thank you for taking the time to read a little bit about me. Happy holidays!!
Fifth Grade Teacher, Ms. Colleen Kennedy

News from our Food Service Provider, Pomptonian
In January we are celebrating Foods Across America. Once a week a well-known dish celebrating a different state will be featured in the high schools, and even some other schools. To learn more, click the following link: Foods Across America.
As we continue to tour the Garden State, our latest edition of the Nutrition News is a trip to an Apple Orchard. This month we are featuring local Purple Potatoes and Pink Lady Apples on the lunch tray. Don’t forget, an apple a day keeps the RD away!
