Parent Newsletter
Some thoughts for the starting school year
Dear Razorback Family,
Welcome Back, Roberson Families!
We hope everyone enjoyed the unexpected winter break and had a chance to play in the snow! More importantly, we hope all was well with your homes and that you stayed safe and warm. As we transition back, let’s embrace the last bit of cool weather before Houston returns to its usual warmth.
Afterschool Tutorials Begin Monday, January 27th
For students who received a tutorial letter and an attendance request, afterschool tutorials will officially begin on Monday, January 27th. These sessions are designed to support your scholar’s academic growth, so please ensure they attend if requested.
Parent Data Talks – Thursday, January 30th
We strongly encourage all parents to join us for our Parent Data Talks on Thursday, January 30th. Parents, you are a crucial piece of the pie when it comes to your student’s growth, and we want you involved in the discussion! Bring your scholar along so they can engage in their own progress as well. Pizza will be provided for all attendees. We hope to see you there!
End-of-Year Field Trip to Typhoon Texas
This year’s exciting end-of-year field trip will take students to Typhoon Texas! They will enjoy a fun-filled day with unlimited food and drinks, all while traveling on charter buses for a comfortable experience. The cost can be paid in installments through Revtrak on the school’s website. Be sure to check the flyer included in this newsletter for all the details!
Attendance Matters!
We are entering the busiest season of the school year, and we need all students present every day if they are healthy. Every lesson and activity are intentional in supporting student growth, and we don’t want anyone to miss out on key opportunities for learning.
Word of the Year: Intentional
Our focus word for the remainder of the year is intentional. Our staff is purposefully planning lessons, grouping students, and implementing interventions to ensure student success. If your scholar has been requested to attend tutorials or has been moved to a new intervention class, know that these decisions are intentional and designed to support their academic journey. We ask that you partner with us in ensuring their success!
Questions or Concerns?
As always, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or your child’s grade-level assistant principal.
Together, we make the impossible possible!
Sincerely,
Cecelia Brumsey
Principal, Roberson Middle School

PTO CORNER
Message from PTO President, Mrs. Johnson
Happy New Year to everyone! I wanted to inform you of our PHILL THE BOX CLOTHING DRIVE RESULTS.....
Poundage Report for RMS’s clothing drive is:
1,560 lbs and $312 raised
I am grateful for the participation of all that donated clothing and various items. Thank you for thinking of others that are not as fortunate as we are. We look forward to our upcoming SHOE DRIVE in February that will be a competition between communities. The community that collects the most shoes will be rewarded. More details will follow soon.
We notice that students are bringing water bottles to campus, Remember parents all water bottles must be clear, to fill with water while on campus, all Stanley's are taken up and returned at the end of the day because students are not allowed to walk around with them. Take the opportunity to purchase a Bottle from PTO. Your student can keep this water bottle with them all day.
