Summer Activities:
- Go bird watching. Take photos and keep track of your sightings. Use an app or guidebook to identify feathered friends.
- Grow fresh herbs in containers. Use old coffee cans, milk jugs, mason jars, plastic cups, or anything else you have around the house. Keep your herb garden on a patio or windowsill.
- Look for shapes in the clouds. Put a blanket in the grass and stare up at the sky. Take turns talking about what you see in the clouds.
- Make a bird feeder. Watch birds visit your yard and add to your list of bird sightings.
- Make fairy houses. Use moss, bark, and leaves to create a dwelling fit for Thumbelina.
- Pick your own plants. Find a farm with blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, veggies, or flowers and get picking.
- Plant a butterfly or hummingbird garden. Create a backyard wildlife habitat.

Counselor Corner
Hi Little Eagles!
In May we celebrated our Spring - Soaring Eagle nominations with an award lunch! Congratulations to these students for showing great progress the second half of the year.
Please keep an eye out for 2023-2024 class placement letters & supply lists that will be sent home with students prior to the last day of school.
Please let me know if you need support for your student as we near the transition to summer.
I hope you all have an amazing, restful summer!
Please feel free to reach out if you are in need of resources or if there is a way I can support your student or family this year. ashley.phelps@myeagles.org or 517-769-8557.

HEALTH CONCERNS
Please inform your school nurse of any allergies, surgeries, accidents, or new health problems that occur during the summer months.
MEDICATIONS
New Medication Forms must be completed by the parent/guardian and health care provider before each school year. Medication authorization forms expire at the end of each school year. Make sure you make your request to the health care provider before August. Clinics get very busy and may not be able to complete your request if submitted after mid-August. New medication forms must have a start date on or after August 1st, 2023, or say 2023-2024 school year to be valid for next school year. You can access medication forms on our website at myeagles.org or you can email the nurse at paige.schlegel@myeagles.org.
STUDENTS WITH LIFE THREATENING CONDITIONS (IHP Forms)
Per state law, medication/treatment forms signed by health care provider and parent/guardian, all supplies, and health care plan must be in place before the first day of school. You must contact the nurse to prepare or update the health care plan the week before school starts to prepare your student's safe attendance. An in-person appointment may be scheduled by contacting the nurse by email at paige.schlegel@myeagles.org or by calling the school.
IMMUNIZATION REMINDER
All students must be in compliance with the state's law for immunization requirements by the first day of school. If a student is not in compliance with immunizations, a medical or non-medical waiver must be on file in order for the student to be in compliant and to not be excluded from school. Please contact the Jackson County Health Department if you have any other questions.

Attendance Matters!
Showing up to school greatly impacts a student's academic success. Families play a crucial role in ensuring that a student gets to school safely and on time daily. We understand that absences are unavoidable, such as illness or medical appointments. Please call in advance if your child will not be in school.
