Dear Families of the Senior Class,

We are excited for the soon approaching Class of 2025 graduation ceremony and wanted to provide you with pertinent information to assist you in planning for this event. Our commencement ceremony is scheduled for Monday, June 2, 2025 at 6:30pm on the front lawn of Grosse Pointe South. In the event of inclement weather, the rain date will be the following day, Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at 6:30pm. In the rare event the weather does not permit us to hold graduation on either of these dates, our district established backup date will be Friday, June 6, 2025 at 6:30pm. We will communicate with families early and often, as needed. Please check the main South website, Schoology, and/or your email for any delay or postponement information.

Graduation is a monumental moment for students and their families and we appreciate that families want to get the “best seat in the house” to view the graduation commencement ceremony. It is customary for many families to arrive at South on graduation day to reserve seats. We welcome this and kindly ask that families work with us to ensure all families have an opportunity to secure seating to view their graduate as they walk across the stage. We ask all families and guests to adhere to the following if they wish to secure seating early:

• As our ceremony is held outdoors, our staff will need additional time to finalize stage construction, sound checks, choir set ups, floral arrangements, and any last minute details. As such, we allow families to reserve seating after 4pm.

• Families may reserve up to 4 seats per graduate. We ask that one person from your party remain present to “hold” their 4 seats.

• Per the request of our rental company, using anything but low-tack “painters tape” to reserve chairs is not permitted and is subject to staff removal.

Please note there are seats reserved by the school for special guests. These seats are marked with ribbon and a sign. We ask that you not tamper with or move them - this was an issue last year. There will also be a general section marked for handicapped seating.

Limited handicap parking will be available in the S-Lot off of Grosse Pointe Blvd.
