The Sky's the Limit
November 2023
Congaree Families,
We welcome you into November as we prepare for another packed month of activities. Our Congaree Choir will be singing in the Congaree Cares sponsored Veterans Day program on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 4:00 pm. This will be at the South Congaree Arena. It is open to the public. We will soon have our annual Veterans' Day program at the school and we are looking to make this another community event. We are again partnering with Airport High School to produce a really solid program. We ask that you join us Friday, November 10, 2023 in our cafeteria at 9:30 am. We will be recognizing the US veterans who served their country and highlight the service of veterans in our community. Check Dojo for more information.
Our AVID Strategy of the Month is a Frayer Model. This can be used for organizing thoughts, building background knowledge, and helping with understanding vocabulary before and after reading texts. Please ask your student about their work using a Frayer Model. You will see examples of Frayer Models throughout our school.
Our 4th graders have left for Camp Leopold near Rimini, South Carolina and are having a great time learning in nature. We were not in the school building, but were in outdoor classrooms. It is by far one of the best field trips that they will have while they are in elementary school. We are thankful for this opportunity.
On Tuesday, November 7, 2023 there is a Fall Career Expo Fair being held at the Lexington School District Two Innovation Center from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm. This event is to hire different positions in the district such as bus drivers, custodians, food services workers, substitutes, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and much more. Please click the link for more information.
Finally, November is a month that we all should give thanks. Please know that we are thankful for you and what you do for our students at Congaree. We care for you as a member of the Congaree family. The sky’s the limit!
Respectfully,
Mr. Dickey
