Eagle Wings
Week of November 3rd
Principal's Message
Greetings Eagle Families,
It was a very busy week in the nest! We celebrated Red Ribbon Week throughout the week with superheroes, emotions, & pink out. Our 1st graders took a walk to the Alpharetta Arts Center to hear a children's author, and we all celebrated the love of reading with our 4th annual Book Character Parade.
This week our Eagles will have a remote learning day on Tuesday, November 5th. Assignments will be given by your child's homeroom teacher.
Please take a moment to watch this month's Top 3 Things Video for November--it's the season of "many things" and we don't want you to miss anything!
Yours in partnership,
Ms. Crawford

Safety Reminders
In an effort to continue to keep the safety of our students and staff as our top priority, I wanted to take a moment to remind our school community of the following processes we already have in place:
- Ringing the bell (now located on the right side of doors) when needing to come to the front office
- Having your ID on you and prepared to show prior to entering the building
- Please note, if you do not have your ID, you will not be allowed to enter the building
- Not holding the front door open for others
- Checking in and out at the front office
- Exiting the building through the front doors only

Request for Remote Days
Students can substitute up to 5 absences per semester (a max of 10 per year) with a remote learning day by meeting the remote learning participation benchmarks listed in FCS policy. This would result in the student being counted as present for the day(s) they participate remotely.
- To be marked present, work must be submitted within 2 days of absence.
- Students may not use a remote learning day on a test day.
- Parent/guardian or student must notify teacher in advance to the start of the instructional day to utilize the participation benchmark rule.
- Schools will make their best effort to provide instruction given early notice.
- For security reasons, students who are out of the country may not participate in remote learning.
Please reach out to your child's teacher directly to start this process. You can click here for more information.
General Reminders
Morning Carpool & Arrival
A few important reminders about morning arrival:
- No left turn is allowed onto Mayfield between 7:10 and 7:40 a.m. Please adhere to the posted signs and traffic laws.
- Carpool ends at 7:35 a.m. If you arrive after 7:35 a.m., you will have to park and walk your child in the front door. If the bell rings during this time, you'll need to sign your child in on the Checkmate system outside the front door.
Transportation Changes:
Transportation changes should be provided to your child's teacher on the "Notes from Home" pad you received in your red folder during open house. Please keep in mind that changes in transportation must be in writing and EMAILED to the front office (toppint@fultonschools.org).
Early Pick-Up:
When picking up your student early for appointments, you will need to present your driver’s license for safety and security. Early checkout will end at 1:30 pm.
AES Family Handbook:
CLICK HERE to access our Family Handbook and take a moment review some of the practices we adhere to here at AES. By doing so, that helps all of us be (and stay) on the same page!
Lunch/Item Drop-Off
We know mornings can be hectic and lunch or other items can get left behind. Don't worry! There is a cart outside the front door where you can drop things off. Please put your child's name, teacher and grade and items will be brought in daily by 10:30 a.m.
Code of Conduct
The new 2024-2025 Student Code of Conduct is available on the Fulton County Schools website. Click Here for quick access. Ensure that you and your Eagle review this important document.
The Fulton County Schools Code of Conduct is now ready for parents to review and sign in Infinite Campus. Families need to complete their digital attestation through the Parent Portal by accessing the documents tagged "NEEDS ATTENTION."
Here is a (link) with instructions on how to complete the Acknowledgment of Receipt Form. All parents and students (over 10 years old) MUST sign this form found within their INFINITE CAMPUS PARENT/STUDENT PORTAL ACCOUNT.
From the Cafeteria
Reach out to our cafeteria manager, Ms. Blyther (blyther@fultonschools.org) with any questions.
Lost & Found
We already have lots of jackets & sweatshirts that are missing their home. If your child is missing anything, please remind them to stop by the lost & found (back of cafeteria). All items left by Winter Break will be donated.

Change of School Assignment Information
We want to inform you of an important update regarding the process for students to attend a school outside of the student’s home attendance boundary. The new process, named the Change of School Assignment (COSA) process, resulted from a recent change to Board Policy JBCD: Change of School Assignment. The new process impacts all Fulton County Schools’ changes in enrollment and will be held at one time, with a beginning date of December 9, 2024, and closing January 15, 2024.
This unified process applies regardless of the school programs your student wishes to join at the new school. The previous separate applications for magnet programs no longer exist. Students must now apply through the COSA process for school enrollment if they wish to attend a school outside their attendance boundaries, followed by a separate application for the desired program housed within the school. Acceptance into the school does not guarantee program placement, so parents should contact the school for specific program participation criteria.
Additionally, please be aware that some schools, including the Fulton Academy of Virtual Excellence (F.A.V.E.), FCS Innovation Academy, Global Impact Academy, and The Promise Career Institute, will follow independent enrollment processes. We encourage you to reach out to these schools directly for more information.
Transfers for children of military families, children experiencing homelessness, cases of excessive travel or distance, and victims of violent criminal offenses are exempt from the COSA process.
We understand that these changes may impact your decisions for the upcoming school year. Please review the updated guidelines and submit your COSA application within the designated period to ensure your child’s eligibility. Updated information will be available on the district’s website at www.fultonschools.org/cosa.
Please contact StudentAssignment@fultonschools.org for any questions.
