Easton High Students Recognized for Exiting the ESOL (English as a Second Language) Program!
This week during the first Easton High Newcomer/ESOL student social, six students were recognized for exiting the ESOL (English as a Second Language) program. This award is given to students who score a composite 4.5 or higher on the WIDA (World Class Instructional Design Assessment) exam. The exam is given annually and consists of four domains - listening, speaking, reading and writing.
The students who exited the program in 2024 include:
Farid Arce Izaola (current 10th grader who entered ESOL in 8th grade)
Rodrigo Fresco Rubio (current 10th grader who entered ESOL in 4th grade)
Dayana Gomez Ramos (current 10th grader who entered ESOL in 3rd grade)
Oscar Grijalva Rivera (current 9th grader who entered ESOL in 3rd grade)
Vlad Oslam (current 10th grader who entered ESOL in 9th grade)
Sebastian Sanchez Fuenmayor (current 10th grader who entered ESOL in 7th grade)
It typically takes students 5-7 years to complete the ESOL program. In the majority of US schools, these students are considered bilingual. This is a major accomplishment. These multilingual students will continue to grow and learn, and their talents will be beneficial in their future. Congratulations to all.
