Dear Families:
With the exciting start to the school year coming next Tuesday, and meet and greets this coming Thursday, we have a request that we’re hoping all families can help us with.
After a couple months of reduced foot and bike traffic across the Skokie front lawn, our grass is finally starting to grow back and look a little greener. We would love to set the expectation that bikes, and as much foot traffic as possible, stay on the sidewalks instead of the front lawn, to allow the grass to grow back and stay healthy and green. When you and your child(ren) come to school for the meet and greet on Thursday, we would greatly appreciate your support in setting this expectation.
Thank you!
Upcoming Dates
Thursday, August 31st: Teacher Meet and Greet (2:15-3:15 pm)
Students can bring school supplies to the Teacher Meet and Greet or on the first day of school
Tuesday, September 5th: First Day of School! Half-day dismissal at 11:50 am
Arrival and Dismissal Reminders
Students are allowed to enter Skokie at 8:15 am to prepare for the day and will all enter through the front door along Glendale. In inclement weather, students will be able to enter the building prior to 8:15 am, but will remain in the front foyer or in the auditorium. We encourage students to arrive by 8:15 am so they have time to put their things in their locker and be in their advisories ready to start the day by 8:25 am.
At the end of the day, students will be exiting through several different doors, so please coordinate a location with your child(ren) if you are picking them up at the end of the day so they can walk to meet you.
For those walking or biking, safety practices have been developed in collaboration with the Village. Click here to review those with your child(ren). In addition to those practices, please remind your child(ren) to lock their bikes to the bike racks at Skokie. Students can use either the bike racks in the front, near the corner of Oak and Glendale, or in the back, along Elm, behind the parking lot.
