A Farewell Note From Mrs. Frost
Dear Patterson Prairie Dogs,
As I reflect on my final year as Principal of Patterson Elementary, I am filled with profound gratitude. It's hard to believe that my time as your principal is coming to an end, but I'm also filled with joy and pride for all that we've achieved. I thank the entire Patterson community for making my last year in the burrow truly memorable.
Patterson Elementary has consistently maintained the highest ratings in academics and school climate in the State of Illinois, a testament to the hard work and commitment of our students, staff, and families. This year, our school was one of only three IPSD Elementary schools recognized as "Exemplary" in all areas, a remarkable feat that speaks volumes about all of our hard work and dedication to excellence, combined with our amazingly warm and collaborative school community.
I have loved every year serving as the Principal of Patterson, but I must say that this year has been nothing short of amazing. I extend my sincerest appreciation to the entire Patterson community - students, staff, and parents alike - for making this year unforgettable. You've all shown such enthusiasm and dedication to learning and growing together. Whether it was diving into exciting lessons in the classroom or coming together for so many fun events and activities, every moment has been special.
Throughout the year, we have enjoyed so many memorable experiences. From the excitement of the Orange Ruler fundraiser and pig race to the joy of spirit days organized by our student council and the fun-filled PBIS rewards such as DJ at Lunch, glow lunches, and the historic solar eclipse, each moment of the year makes a beautiful memory.
I am particularly proud of our fifth graders, who have demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities in various roles within our school community. Your positive influence and innovative contributions have had a great impact on Patterson Elementary. As you embark on the next chapter of your academic journey, remember the lessons learned and friendships made here at Patterson.
It is with a heavy heart that I leave the burrow. I will always hold a special place in my heart for this community. As you welcome Mrs. Hebenstreit as your new principal or prepare for the transition to middle school, I encourage you to embrace new opportunities with courage and enthusiasm.
In closing, I want to express my warmest wishes for your continued success and happiness. Serving as your principal has been my absolute pleasure. Never forget the incredible things we have achieved together, and "Keep Moving Forward!”
With warmest regards,
Mrs. Frost, Principal, Patterson Elementary 2008-2024
“I strive to ensure every student in my care learns, grows, and feels safe every day.” M. Frost, 2001

Summer Learning Opportunities - Keep Skills Sharp!
Students should have brought home a fabulous bag full of books and math materials, perfect for rainy or too-hot days. These resources are great for keeping skills sharp over the summer with occasional reading and math work. Students in grades 3-5 will keep their Chromebooks over the summer, and most of our online learning sites will remain accessible. Don’t forget, the Naperville Library offers many great books and activities for kids all summer long.
Thank you for a wonderful school year, and we wish everyone a fun and restful summer break!
Popsicles with the Principal Celebration!
The Patterson students and staff had an amazing time during our Popsicles with the Principal Party to celebrate Principal Frost’s retirement. Thank you to DJ Karl Knutsen for playing fun dance music and thank you to the PTA for providing popsicles! The PTA also presented Principal Frost with beautiful garden stones painted by artist Sarah McGinnis as a token of appreciation. Thank you Principal Frost for making Patterson the Happiest School on Earth! We wish you all the best on your next adventure!
