Meet the Admin Staff
Dear Memorial Middle School Parents,
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! We're thrilled to see our school community coming together again, and we look forward to another fantastic year of learning and growth. Our mission remains to provide top-notch education, a supportive environment, and the resources each student needs to thrive.
A warm welcome to our new sixth graders! We invite you to join us for the Memorial “Where Everybody Belongs” (WEB) Orientation on Tuesday, August 13th, from 1:00 to 3:30 PM. This orientation is a great way for our incoming sixth graders to get acclimated and feel at home as they embark on their middle school journey.
The first day of school is Thursday, August 22nd. Before we kick off the school year, we're hosting the Memorial Mustang Roundup on Monday, August 19th. This open house is a perfect opportunity for students and parents to get ready for the new year. During your scheduled time, you’ll receive your child’s schedule and locker assignment, take school pictures, meet the teachers, and get all the information you need about lunch accounts, yearbooks, busing, and our various programs and activities. You’ll find a detailed schedule for the Mustang Roundup below in this newsletter.
To make your visit on August 19th smoother, we encourage all parents to complete the Sioux Falls School District Annual Online Student Registration beforehand. This will save you time and make the Mustang Roundup experience more efficient. Additionally, you can pass over various lines in the gym by completing several tasks ahead of time. See the Mustang Roundup information below.
As we step into this new school year, I invite you to be an active participant in your child’s middle school years. These years are pivotal for both academic and personal development. Your involvement is key, and together, we can support our students in reaching their full potential. I look forward to seeing you all on August 19th and to an amazing school year ahead.
Sincerely,
Dr. Demi Moon, Ed.D.

When I'm not at school, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two kids at the lake, being active outdoors, or reading a good book. Busing & Boundaries
School Bus Information
- Once routes are assigned (by 8/19), people that do not have the app yet will be receiving weekly emails (email addresses that are in Infinite Campus/Parent Portal) from our transportation department on how to download and activate the Stopfinder app. That email from transportation is the only way to get signed up for Stopfinder. MMS does NOT have access to it. Please email allie.haafke@k12.sd.us with any questions or call (605) 367-7276.
Click HERE for SFSD busing and boundary information.
***Bus stop information/routes for the 24-25 school year will be available by Mustang Roundup/Open House.
Check out the new Sioux Area Metro (SAM) transportation on-demand system!
Outside the bus boundary lines? Need a ride somewhere?
Check out the new SAM On Demand starting August 12th that spans across the entire city of Sioux Falls. You can get yourself, your family, or even just your kids to any destination (even school) by requesting a ride.
Kids under 18 are FREE. Adults ride for $1.50!
Download the SAM Transit app, call customer service @ 605.367.7151, or visit the online booking portal.
After booking your ride, the app will let you know the following information: pickup location at the nearest corner, estimated time of arrival, vehicle model, and license plate. You can follow the vehicle's progress in real-time. You can also share your ride details with someone.
Sports Physicals & Participation Information
**NEW athletic sign up site, BOUND, ready to go!
Check your email or click on the Memorial Athletics Website > Bound > Registration. You will have to create an account that you can use for your whole family. Once you're in, choose your school and register your student. Currently, there is a glitch in the system with graduation years. It might have the wrong graduation class. (Not a huge issue as long as you sign up for the correct sport/grade.) Feel free to enter your student's information manually, though. You may register for more than one sport at a time. You can also complete registration without uploading the physical evaluation/medical history info, but MUST have it entered or turned into the school BEFORE the season starts. For the concussion piece, you need to read it and type your name in the box before moving on. Please make sure you complete all steps. You will NOT receive a confirmation email, but it will give you a "Congrats!" message on your screen after completing the registration. If your status is still pending, we will contact you as the season gets closer if need be. Thank you for being patient, as we navigate this new athletic system together.
With any questions, please reach out to the MMS Athletic Coordinator, Eric Hettinger at eric.hettinger@k12.sd.us.
