2024-2025 School Year
Welcome Back, Tigers!
August 1st, 2024
Dear Parents, Guardians, Students, and Community Members,
As we approach the beginning of another school year, I am filled with enthusiasm and a sense of optimism for the possibilities that lie ahead. It is my pleasure to welcome you all back for what promises to be an exciting and productive academic journey.
Each new school year brings with it opportunities for growth, learning, and achievement. It is our collective responsibility as a community to ensure that every student has the tools, support, and encouragement they need to succeed. One crucial element of success that I would like to emphasize is the importance of regular school attendance.
Attendance is more than just showing up; it is a fundamental building block of academic success and personal development. Research consistently shows that students who attend school regularly are more likely to achieve higher grades, develop important social skills, and establish routines that contribute to lifelong success. Beyond academic outcomes, regular attendance fosters a sense of responsibility and commitment that prepares our students for future challenges.
Parents and guardians play a pivotal role in promoting good attendance habits. By ensuring that your child attends school every day possible and arrives on time, you are setting a powerful example and reinforcing the value of education. Our dedicated teachers and staff are committed to creating a welcoming and engaging learning environment where students feel motivated to come to school excited and ready to learn.
As we embark on this new school year together, I urge you to prioritize attendance and punctuality. Please communicate with your child’s school if there are any challenges or concerns that may impact their attendance. Together, we can work proactively to support each student’s journey towards academic achievement and personal growth.
Thank you for your continued partnership in creating a thriving educational community here at Excelsior Springs. I look forward to celebrating the successes and milestones of our students throughout the coming year.
Warm regards,
Dr. Jaret Tomlinson
Superintendent

Character Strong coming to our classrooms!
We are very excited to introduce the "Purposefull People" social emotional curriculum at our elementary schools this year. Utilizing this research-based program through Character Strong, this program will focus on skills that will help students be successful in school and in life.
We believe that students should have safe, predictable places to learn where they feel included. Students should have healthy and helpful connections with teachers and classmates. They should also experience learning that will help them tackle challenges inside and outside of school.
Purposefull People has three main goals for students: Be Kind, Be Strong, and Be Well.
- Be Kind: Social skills like listening, friendship, solving conflicts, and leadership. These skills are taught alongside Empathy, Respect, & Cooperation
- Be Strong: Skills that help students focus, stay organized, and set goals. These skills are taught alongside Responsibility, Courage, & Perseverance
- Be Well: Skills that help students handle their emotions and deal with stress. These skills are taught alongside Gratitude, Honesty, & Creativity
We are very excited to start working on these skills in August. By combining this curriculum with our Positive Behavior Support efforts, we know 2024-2025 is going to be the greatest year yet!
