MCS Viking News
...from the Principal's desk
✨ from Mrs. Lake
I hope this newsletter finds you and your family healthy. I can't say that I'm sorry to see January come to an end with the snow days, two-hour delays, subzero temperatures, indoor recesses, and quickly spreading illnesses. That being said, our teachers have done an amazing job of keeping the students' learning on track. We are wrapping up the month with our ILEARN Checkpoint 2 testing being completed, with the exception of a couple of make-up tests, and that is quite an accomplishment.
Looking ahead to February, it is such a busy month. Aside from all of the exciting learning that is taking place in our classrooms, we are getting ready to begin Star Lab, which is always one of the students' favorite memories of elementary school. Mrs. Rauch is kicking off our Kids' Heart Challenge (see attachment). Our girls' basketball season is well underway, and they are learning and improving their skills with each game. Our APPLES organization is bringing us an exciting program about the Quest for Kindness, and Mrs. Frondorf is bringing back the quarter auction to benefit our library.
Of course, we aren't finished with winter just yet, so the possibility of snow days, elearning days, and two-hour delays still exists. Mr. Gehring has done a great job of getting information out to you as quickly as possible, so that you can adjust your plans accordingly. Please also be mindful of our school policy regarding sickness. If your child has not been symptom-free for at least twenty-four hours, please do not send him/her to school. As much as we are working hard to sanitize the classrooms and commonly used surfaces, the germs are still spreading. We greatly appreciate your help in this matter.
As you continue to read through the newsletter, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns that may arise. Take care and stay healthy!
