Keep Learning during the Summer with i-Ready!
Your student can continue learning during the summer with i-Ready lessons and Learning Games! i-Ready Personalized Instruction provides students with lessons based on their skill levels and needs, so they can learn at a pace that is just right for them.
These lessons are fun and interactive to keep your student engaged as they learn. In addition to the lessons, Learning Games for Mathematics allow students to practice math in a fun and engaging ways, helping them develop a positive view of math. I-Ready will be available for student use during the summer until the end of July.
Smartwatches and Phones
Parents, please be mindful of our policy as you make plans for next school year. Technology can be a wonderful way to keep in touch with family members. However, smartwatches and phones can become quite disruptive to the learning environment when parents are contacting their children throughout the day (and vice versa). The Elementary Student Handbook contains the following language:
Students are extended the privilege of possessing phones/smartwatches on school grounds; however, their use is limited to after-school dismissal and non-school days. These devices must be in the off position, or not used once the student arrives on campus until the end of the school day.
Teachers will be requesting that students leave their watches and phones in backpacks or another class designated place each day when they enter the classroom so that learning can continue uninterrupted.
Transportation Eligibility 2024-2025
Davis/Richmond Families,
Davis/Richmond Schools have had their own unique boundaries for the 13 year history of the schools, and many students who have received bussing in the past may no longer be eligible for transportation for the 2024-25 school year. We want to make sure that parents are aware of this change and can make arrangements for the coming school year.
Bus Routes will not be assigned until August 5th, at which time parents can look up if their child has been assigned to a route by checking e-link from HAC.
In the meantime, you can make tentative plans by finding out how far your home is from the school. The state of Illinois guideline is to provide transportation for any pupil residing further than 1.5 miles from the school to which the child is assigned. Transportation is also provided where conditions are such that walking, either to or from the assigned school, or to/from a pick-up point or bus stop, constitutes a serious hazard to the safety of the pupil. This safety hazard can be due to either (i) vehicular traffic or rail crossings or (ii) a course or pattern of criminal activity, as defined in Section 10 of the Illinois Streetgang Terrorism Omnibus Prevention Act. Currently, crossing Main Street is one of the few safety hazards that qualifies a student for bussing if the child lives less than 1.5 miles from school.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. Most students (other than the newly boundaried neighborhoods or areas north of route 64) will not be eligible for transportation.
News from the Nurse
MEDICAL FORMS AND MEDICATION
Dear Parents,
It’s hard to believe there are only a few weeks of school left. This is a reminder that you will need to come to school to pick up your child's medication by the last day of school which is Thursday, May 30th. Medications that are not picked up at the end of the year will be disposed of according to the D303 policy. If a Medication Self Carry/Administration form was completed, meds will be sent home with your child in their backpacks. That is only for inhalers, Epi pens and topical creams. Any pills or liquids still need to be picked up by a parent.
Looking ahead to the 2024-2025 school year, if your child requires medication or any action plans, your child will need new physician orders and action plans for the school year. Ideally have the physician date the forms following the last day of school. Forms can be found under health services on the D303 site or linked directly here:
All forms will need to be completed in full before any medications can be administered.
Kindergarten and 2nd grade students require a dental examination and form completed within 18 months prior to May 15th, 2025. A vision examination and completed State form is also required for incoming kindergarten students as well as a physical examination and a record of all immunizations.
These forms can be submitted to the main office or emailed to the school nurse. Please reach out if you have any questions.
Thank you!
