Inclement Weather Closures
WPR is an entity of Widefield School District 3. As such, we are required to follow school district inclement weather closures to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and patrons.
In the case of WSD3 closing for inclement weather:
All WPR facilities will be closed (including the Recreation Center and Aquatics Center)
All WPR classes, activities, programs, and events will be canceled
In the case of WSD3 calling a delayed start:
The WPR Recreation Center and Aquatics Center will open at 8:30am
All classes, activities, programs, and events beginning before 8:30am will be canceled (including Morning Preschool)
In the case of WSD3 canceling after school activities:
All WPR facilities will close at 4:30pm (including the Recreation Center and Aquatics Center)
All activities, classes, programs, and events will be canceled
WPR will do our best to communicate with patrons and program participants about any closures. Please follow our social media pages, as well as check our website and your email for updates.
Celebrate With Us!
Widefield Parks & Recreation and Security Public Library are hosting Friends’ Night Out on Thursday, January 23 @ 6-8pm. This FREE Adult event will include crafts, games, fitness classes, chair massages, books, refreshments, and more! The first 50 people in the door will receive a goody bag.
Teen Diversity Night is on Friday, January 24 @ 5 - 9pm at the WPR Recreation Center. This Free event is for all teens, grades 7th - 12th. All teens need a place where they feel they belong. Join us in a safe environment where you can be yourself. Experience a night of inclusion bursting with games, arts and crafts, and dinner!
Get ready to welcome 2025 with a splash! Join us for our “chilly challenges”! Try out our diving board and rock wall! Be sure to register your party for guaranteed entry!
WPR Preschool 2025/2026 School Year
3 year old registration for our 2025/2026 school year will open to the public on March 1. In person only, first come first serve!
4 year old Universal Preschool applications for the 2025/2026 school year are now OPEN. Please visit upk.colorado.gov to apply. Applications with the state are REQUIRED. Once you apply, you will receive an email from the state letting you know if you are accepted or not. Then you will be contacted for additional paperwork.

Cook With Us!
Learn how to safely water bath can your food to preserve them. Preserving food for your pantry is a great way to stock up for your family and extend the bounty of your garden harvest or save your bulk purchases from spoiling. Everyone will walk away with 1 preserved jar of goods. Date: Monday, February 10 @ 5-7pm. Ages: 16+. Fee: $30. Register by February 5.
Create With Us!
Join us for this youth art club offered twice per week for five weeks. Participants will learn drawing line work, shading, painting and color mixing, painting and layering, multimedia art, and more. All participants will be supplied with a sketchbook for the session. No need to bring anything other than your creativity. Date: Tuesdays & Thursdays, January 14 - February 13 @ 5 - 6pm. Fee: $112.50. Ages: 8 - 13. Location Meeting Room. Register by January 7.
This adult painting class is for beginners and seasoned painters alike. You'll be taken step by step and learn how to paint a cold winter day with lots of layered texture. Participants will learn mixing techniques and layering effects, no previous knowledge is necessary. Our art instructor directs you through the painting process to help bring out your inner artist. Every student will walk away with a canvas painting. No need to bring anything with you, except your creativity!
Date: Wednesday, January 22 @ 6:30 - 8:30pm. Fee: $25. Ages: 16+. Register by January 20.
With Valentine’s Day around the corner, come make art that involves the heart! We’ll be making yarn hearts, paper hearts, and painted hearts. These crafts are perfect gifts on Valentines Day.
Date: Friday, February 7 @ 1 - 2:30pm. Fee: $25. Ages: 6-13. Register by January 31.

We have openings in Night Owlz! Register your child for a fun night while parents take a well-deserved break from 6 - 9pm! Your child will have the opportunity to splash around in the pool, play games, create arts and crafts, and enjoy a movie to end the night. Pizza, juice, and pudding will be served for dinner. Ages: 7 - 10. Fee: $25. Date: January 31st.

Join our 2-day pickleball lessons for just $40! Sounds like a great dill! Choose from our beginner or intermediate lessons and take your skills to the next level. Visit our website’s pickleball page for the full list of session dates.
Join the fun in our Adult Pickleball Sunday Doubles League or Monday Morning Doubles League! The registration fee is $30 per player, registration for the winter leagues closes on January 12 and spring registration opens January 1! You can register solo or bring a friend to team up. It’s a dill-ightful way to stay active and have fun!
Adult Indoor Volleyball League
Ready to serve up some fun? Join our Adult Indoor Volleyball League for 8 weeks of exciting games and friendly competition! Matches will take place on Tuesdays from January 21 to March 18, and it’s just $180 per team. Registration ends January 5! This is a COED recreational league with self-officiated games and is perfect for players of all skill levels.
Adult Spring Softball Leagues
Spring is the perfect time to get outside and play some softball! Get your team together and sign up for our Monday Coed League or our Tuesday Men’s League. Team registration fee is only $450 for 10 games. Deadline to register is March 23!
Time to sink some bags! Get your partner and register for our spring cornhole league! Matches are on Wednesdays from April 9 to May 21.Team registration fee is only $50. Register before March 30!
CARA Basketball Skills Challenge
The Colorado Association of Recreational Athletics invites all youth ages 6 - 13 to test your skills in dribbling, passing, and shooting. Join us on January 9 at 5:30pm at the WPR Rec Center for the local competition to compete for a chance to advance to a sectional event and, potentially, the state championship! FREE event, no equipment needed. Please pre-register online!
Youth Pickleball Lessons are now available at the WPR Recreation Center! Join us March 24 - 25 for a 2-day lesson to learn the fundamentals of the sport with our experienced instructors. This program is for 2nd to 5th graders, all necessary equipment will be provided. Limited spaces, register by March 16. Fee: $40.
Youth 3v3 Basketball Tournament
Get ready to ball out in our 3v3 Basketball Tournament for 6-8th graders. Separate divisions for boys and girls, all games will be on Saturday, March 29 and teams will have practice time Friday, March 28. Team registration fee is $75, teams must have an adult representative register by March 16!
Youth Volleyball Leagues
WPR’s COED Volleyball Leagues 4th & 5th Graders and for 6th - 8th graders are open for registration until March 9! The season begins on April 5, with practices and games held on Saturdays. Fee: $40 (5-game guarantee).
Youth Spring Outdoor Soccer
Join the fun this spring with Coed Soccer for ages 4 years through 8th grade. Enjoy a fun environment with an emphasis on teamwork, sportsmanship, and skill development. Games will take place from April 5 to May 10. Register by March 9. Fee: $40 (5 games)
Youth Spring Cheerleading
Cheer on a soccer team this spring! Register now for our coed cheerleading teams for ages 4 through 5th grade. Games from April 5 to May 10. Register by March 9. Fee: $40 (5 games)
Tiny Tykes Soccer
A FUNdamental program that teaches basic soccer skills while focusing on motor skill development, balance, coordination, concentration, listening skills, and teamwork of players ages 2-5. Sessions run Saturdays April 5 - May 10. For details and to register online go to challengersports.com.

Personal Training
Book our new one-on-one personalized Personal Training sessions (1-hour sessions). We have 5 different packages you can choose from starting at $188 for once a week sessions for one month. See our registration page for full pricing details.
We also offer a one time, free 30-minute Personal Training session where you can meet one of our personal trainers, discuss training methods, your goals, previous experience and any questions you may have! Register online now!
We now offer a small group package (2-3 people) for a total of $260. This package allows a small group to workout together with one of our Personal Trainers, once a week for four weeks. Workout with friends and save money!
Martial Arts - January & February
With martial arts as a foundation, participants have the opportunity to develop self-awareness and self-confidence. GOJU-RYU KARATE is a comprehensive martial art derived from the Okinawan system of self-defense. Participants of all skill levels can benefit from this program by relieving stress, help with weight loss, coordination, balance, flexibility, stamina, and assist in self-control. We do recommend you come in to observe a class prior to registering to make sure this style of class will fit your needs. Dates: Mondays & Wednesdays in January & February @ 6 - 7:30pm. No class January 20 and February 17. Ages: 7 and older. Fee: $105. Location: Recreation Center Fitness Room 2.
High School Training Camp - January & February
High School Athlete Off-Season Training camp available for all high school students and athletes. The program is designed to develop and maximize the athletic abilities of all young students and athletes. We will be incorporating speed training (specifically explosive speed and ground force development), flexibility, agility training, and reactive training (both linear and lateral speed). We will also take time to discuss basic sport nutrition. Dates: Saturdays, January 4 - February 8 @ 10 - 11:30am. Fee: $45. Location: Meet at the Recreation Center Fitness Room 1.

Blended Learning CPR & First Aid
This is a blended learning course that includes an online portion (approximately 4 hours) and an instructor-led classroom skill session. The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-class portion. Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a digital certificate for Adult First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years. Each participant must have a unique email address to obtain credit for the course. Please do not use the same email address for multiple registrations. Date: Saturday, January 11 @ 9 - 11am Ages: 11+ Fee: $75. Register by January 2.
This two-day class includes all of the skills and information covered in the American Red Cross Babysitting Class, plus Infant and Child CPR. This fun and interactive training includes lively discussions and real life problem-solving skills, how to handle emergencies and illnesses, basic care-giving skills, how to choose safe and age-appropriate toys and games, and how to effectively handle bedtime and discipline issues. Dates: January 2 - 3 @ 9am - 3pm. Ages: 11 - 15 Fee: $120. Register by December 30.
