Huge Shout Out to Our Amazing Custodians!
National Custodian Day was on Wednesday this week and I want to take a moment to share how incredible our custodians are!
--> Will Davis is our Day Custodian and he takes such good care of us. Everyday is he assisting students and staff in making sure our building is safe and sparkling clean. He's a daily presence in the lunch room helping with our quick lunch transition, opening a million yogurt containers and offering smiles and words of encouragement. If your child talks about Mr. Will...that's him!
--> Kirk Dunlavy is our 2nd Shift Custodian and he helps out with all of our evening activities. He is a welcoming face for families as they participate in all of the PTO and school activities after hours. We appreciate how he ALSO has our classrooms ready for learning the next day too.
We really are fortunate to have these two gentlemen taking care of us. Please tell them thank you if you ever cross paths with them!
Fall Conference Sign Up
It is fall conference time. Our staff is looking forward to learning more about your child from YOU and they will share information about school progress so far this year.
Please find your child's teacher in the links below and sign up for a time that works for you. Conferences are 15 minutes long and there are enough slots for each child to have a conference with their homeroom teacher. Our conference formats have changed a bit from last year. The Hillcrest Husky Fun Run
The Hillcrest Husky Fun Run will be held on Friday, October 11th at Hillcrest Elementary. Students can run or stroll through foam, bubbles, or ball pits and cheer on their classmates! Parents are welcome to make signs and cheer on the students.
Run times will be as follows:
4K - 9:10AM (4K Parents are welcome to cheer on or run with their children!)
Kindergarten - 1:35PM
1st Grade - 1:55PM
5th Grade - 2:15PM
3rd Grade - 2:35PM
4th Grade - 2:55PM
2nd Grade - 3:15PM
Note: 2nd Graders will start last due to 2nd Grades having a field trip.
Thank you to all participating in the fun run fundraiser!! We have raised $915 towards our $14,000 goal! Way to go Husky Community! Remember we have 14 more days left, we can do this!
Donations made directly online can be submitted until 12 pm on Friday, October 11th using the online platform 99Pledges. Here is the link to donate towards our fundraiser:
Hillcrest Fun Run 2024: Race to Renew our Classrooms

PTO Meeting: Wednesday, October 9, 6:15pm at Hillcrest Library or join us via WebEx. We will go over our upcoming Fun Run, Trunk or Treat, and other upcoming events at Hillcrest. All are welcome. If you aren't able to join us in the library, here is the link to join online:
Culver’s Night: Tuesday, October 8th from 5 pm- 8 pm. Dine in, curbside, or carry out at Culver’s at 1650 E Main St, Waukesha.
Flavor of the day is: Carmel Turtle.
Scrip Order
Do you shop for groceries or household items? Do you go out to dinner or to the movies? Do you shop on Amazon?
If so, purchase a gift card at face value (the same amount you would spend either way) and PTO receives a percentage back!
Orders forms have been sent home this week and are due Tuesday October 15.

Picture Retake Day - October 14th
Picture retakes will be on October 14th this fall. On this day, your child can get their yearbook photo retaken or taken for the first time. There will be an online store available for families to order packages as the day gets closer.
Reporting Absences
To report your child's absence, use one of the two methods:
--> Report via Infinite Campus (directions attached below)
--> Reporting absences via attendance line 262-970-1816 (New number)
Preplanned absences (especially more than one day) need to be reported via a form linked here. Copies of the form are available in Hillcrest's office as well.
There are 10 allowable days for a parent to excuse their child from school each school year. If your child has an appointment or sees a doctor for an illness, get a doctor's note from your provider. This allows us to code the student's absence as medically excused.

Changes to end of day pick up plans need to be communicated:
-Before 2:00 PM for Kindergarten to 5th grade students.
- Transportation questions or concerns, please contact First Student directly.
- To communicate with the teacher directly, please reach out via email. Phones do not ring into the classrooms during the school day and teachers find time to check their emails once or twice a day. Staff Directory
