SPEHS Cardinal Call
East Parent/Caregiver October 6, 2024
Greetings East High School scholars, families, and caregivers,
Greetings SPEHS Scholars, Caregivers, Family, and Friends,
It is hard to believe we are already half way through the first quarter of the school year. First quarter progress report grades are available in Infinite Campus. Please check with your scholar regarding their progress so far this year. Encourage your scholar to sign up for WIN time and/or attend 5th hour for any courses in which they are needing more support.
Thank you to our Student Services for coordinating the opportunity for students to attend the Wisconsin Education Fair at Sun Praire West High School this past week. On Friday this week, students will be answering our School Perceptions Survey during SP30. This provides us with valuable information about student experiences at SPEHS. We will also be having an active threat drill this Friday.
We are excited for all of the events and activities in which our scholars will be participating in the next few weeks. We continue to honor Hispanic Heritage Month with a Spirit Week this week and by announcing significant culturally significant facts every day. The Hispanic Student Union will perform during WIN time on October 15th to wrap up this awareness month. Homecoming Week will start on October 14th. We invite the community and families to join us in celebrating and supporting our scholars.
Do not hesitate to get in touch with the main office if you have any questions or concerns. You can get help from our administrative assistants finding the right administrator.
Regards,
Renee Coleman, Principal
Chrissy Mitlyng, Associate Principal
Rachel Looper, Associate Principal

Active Threat Drill Friday
This is to inform you that we will hold our next active threat drill this week on Friday, October 11. Because of our partnership with the Sun Prairie Police Department in this drill, there will be a large police presence on our campus for part of the day.
The safety of students, staff, and visitors is a top priority at Sun Prairie East High School. We hold a variety of drills throughout the year which not only enable us to practice our response to emergencies, but teaches our students life long skills to respond to situations that could happen at college, the workplace, and beyond. In addition to monthly fire and evacuation drills, we hold active threat drills and severe weather drills each year.
Our A.L.I.C.E procedures: Alert, Lockdown (& barricade), Inform, Counter, and Evacuate empower students and staff to make decisions based on the situation and environment during an active threat. Students and staff will be reviewing these procedures in preparation for our drill.
We know being prepared and participating in drills are important steps in fostering a safe environment, but individuals will process this drill experience differently. Our student service staff and administrative team are available if students need support with processing this experience.
Thank you for your continued dedication to school safety,
