The Mine Hill Teacher Association Scholarship
The Mine Hill Teachers Association is accepting applications for annual scholarships awarded to high school seniors who will be moving on to a two or four-year college in the fall. To be eligible for our scholarships, each applicant must:
- Have graduated and attended Canfield Avenue School for a minimum of four years
- Be ranked in the top third of their graduating class
- Possess good character
- Be an active participant in their school and community
Applicants will need to submit a copy of their high school transcript and letter of recommendation and will have the option to upload those files directly into the Google Form or they can arrange to have those supporting documents emailed directly to rsuarez@minehillcas.org.
Completed applications and supporting documents must be received by Monday, April 8, 2024.
MORRIS COUNTY RETIREES ASSOCIATION
The Morris County Retirees Education Association (MCREA) would like to inform you of our scholarships that are available to those students who meet the following criteria:
• Morris County resident
• Attending and graduating from a public high school
• Attending a four-year accredited college or university offering a Bachelor’s Degree with a major in THE FIELD OF EDUCATION
• Planning to pursue a career in THE FIELD OF EDUCATION
The MCREA Scholarship Committee will administer the scholarships.
The recipients will be awarded their scholarship after the chairperson has received the recipient’s first semester transcript. The transcript must indicate enrollment in the field of education and a successful academic record.
In order to be eligible for consideration as a scholarship candidate, one must submit the following items as a neat, complete and well-written package.
A copy of this cover letter
The completed application for the scholarship
An official high school transcript, indicating the candidate’s ranking in the upper half of the senior class
A copy of the SAT or ACT scores
One signed letter of recommendation from either a teacher or guidance counselor
A list of extra-curricular activities, athletics, honors, community service and employment including any leadership roles
Essay (not to exceed one page, double spaced) about your plans for the future including why you want to become an educator)
All materials should be sent in one packet to be received no later than

McDonald's HACER National Scholarship
How Dream Chasers Become Dream Makers
To date, more than $33 million in McDonald’s HACER® National Scholarships have been awarded to Hispanic students across the country. The McDonald's HACER® National Scholarship Program offers scholarships up to 30 outstanding Hispanic students from all over the country, and continues to provide educational opportunities to help narrow the gap that exists for Hispanic college-bound students, further reinforcing McDonald’s long-standing commitment to feeding and fostering the diverse communities it serves.
There are three tiers of funds, aimed to help recipients finance their college tuition. Tier 1 recipients are awarded up to $100,000. Tier 2 recipients receive $20,000 or $10,000 and Tier 3 recipients receive $5,000. Recipients are selected based on their academic achievement, community involvement, personal statement and financial need.

Student journalists, like their professional colleagues, dedicate themselves to covering their communities across platforms. Juggling classwork, part-time work, and journalism activities can often go without reward. The National Press Club and NPC Journalism Institute are proud to administer scholarships honoring promising future journalists serving their communities.

The Scholarship for Journalism Diversity Honoring Julie Schoo
Applications for this award are due Sunday, Feb. 18, 2024.
The Scholarship for Journalism Diversity Honoring Julie Schoo consists of a $5,000 one-year scholarship. The purpose of the scholarship, named for the former executive director of the National Press Club Journalism institute, is to recruit promising future journalists who will bring diversity to American journalism. The award can be renewed up to three years, for a total of $20,000 toward educational expenses.
To be eligible, applicants must:
- be a high school senior in the process of applying for admission to an accredited college or university in the U.S.
- have a 3.0 grade-point average or higher
- plan to pursue a career in journalism
Students do not need to be a U.S. citizen to apply for this scholarship.
Apply for the Scholarship for Journalism Diversity
The Richard G. Zimmerman Scholarship
Applications for this award are due Sunday, Feb. 18, 2024.
The Richard G. Zimmerman Scholarship is named for a long-time National Press Club member who died in 2008 and endowed a scholarship in aid of high school seniors who wish to pursue a career in journalism. Recipients receive a one-time scholarship of $5,000.
To be eligible, applicants must:
- be a high school senior in the process of applying for admission to an accredited college or university in the U.S.
- have a 3.0 grade-point average or higher
- plan to pursue a career in journalism
Students do not need to be a U.S. citizen to apply for this scholarship.
Apply for the Zimmerman Scholarship
The Wes Vernon Broadcast Scholarship
Applications for this award are due Sunday, Feb. 18, 2024.
The Wes Vernon Broadcast Scholarship, established in 2021, supports diversity within the field of broadcast journalism while honoring longtime radio journalist Wes Vernon, a former National Press Club member. The scholarship provides $5,000 annually to a student who demonstrates a commitment to a career in broadcast journalism. The award can be renewed up to three years, for a total of $20,000 toward educational expenses.
To be eligible, students must:
- plan to pursue a career in broadcast journalism
- be enrolled in, or in the process of applying for, admission to a broadcast journalism program at an accredited university or community college in the U.S.
The award is open to any student at any stage in their career pursuing a degree in broadcast journalism. Preference is given to those students enrolled in community colleges, as outlined by the scholarship donor.
Students do not need to be a U.S. citizen to apply for this scholarship.
MORRISTOWN ALUMNAE CHAPTER
The Morristown Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, is pleased to be able to assist deserving students who are African American or of African descent in pursuing educational endeavors to achieve academic goals. Accordingly, they are excited to announce that our 2024 scholarship application is now available!
To be eligible, a student must:
- Be a high school senior of African American or African descent and at least one of the following:
- Reside in Morris, Sussex, Warren or Hunterdon county
- Attend high school in Morris, Sussex, Warren or Hunterdon county
- Actively participate in one of Morristown Alumnae Chapter’s youth programs (GEMS or EMBODI)
- Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale
- Have been accepted to an accredited two-year or four-year college or university
- Agree to be interviewed by the Scholarship Committee as part of the selection process

CREATING OPPORTUNITY THROUGH EDUCATION
The Helping Project Corp is dedicated to creating diversity in the field of engineering and further dismantling institutional racism toward Black Americans in STEM careers. With only 7% of STEM programs comprised of Black Americans and 9% of engineering degrees awarded to Black Americans, the need to provide opportunities and level the playing field is vitally important—especially since diverse teams are 21% more likely to outperform competitors and 33% more likely to create industry-leading profitability.
This flexible scholarship includes up to $10,000 per year ($5,000 per semester) of funding. Scholarship recipients are invited to re-apply for funding for up to four years. The goal is to provide a pathway to achievement for Black Americans pursuing careers in civil, mechanical, electrical, and chemical engineering. Selected candidates receive substantial assistance that is designed to close the financial gap left after the Pell Grant is used for tuition. Scholarship funding can be applied to school expenses like tuition, books, fees, and room and board. Scholarship recipients also participate in a mentorship program designed to support their professional success.
ABOUT THE AWARD:
– Up to $10,000 per school year is awarded to recipients to be used for tuition, books, fees and/or room & board

– Enrolling in an accredited, not-for-profit four-year institution
– Pursuing a degree in civil, electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering, including any subfield of those disciplines

SGT Ryan E. Doltz Memorial Foundation, Inc.
The SGT Ryan E. Doltz Memorial Foundation, Inc. is proud to announce the 18th annual SGT Ryan E. Doltz Scholarship. This scholarship is open to all graduating seniors from a Morris County, NJ, high school who are members of the band. The recipient must have been accepted and be planning to attend a four-year college or university. Financial need is not a requirement. A GPA of 2.5 is required.

The 2024 Connections for the Future Scholarship
Up to $1,000 for a graduating public school senior with disabilities from Bergen, Passaic, Hudson, Essex, Morris, Somerset, Union, Warren or Sussex County
THIS SCHOLARSHIP IS AVAILABLE ONLY TO GRADUATES OF PUBLIC SCHOOLS from the above-mentioned NJ counties.
APPLICATION DEADLINE IS APRIL 1, 2024.

Background:
The Alliance of Private Special Education Schools of North Jersey is a nonprofit group of over 40 state-approved private special education schools whose members are committed to great outcomes for students with special needs.
The Alliance supports and empowers educators and advocates who serve students with special needs through education, information support and advocacy. To further the mission of the Alliance, we have established the Connections for the Future Scholarship.
The goal of the Connections for the Future Scholarship is to provide financial support and recognition of students with disabilities graduating from a PUBLIC SCHOOL PROGRAM as they pursue post-secondary training, education or other opportunities.
The scholarship encourages continuing education and training, increased independence and goal setting, and promotes community integration and the use of local resources and supports.
The scholarship will:
- Provide financial support to PUBLIC SCHOOL graduates with disabilities (IEP or 504) so that they may pursue post-secondary education, training, and other life-enhancing opportunities. STUDENTS DO NOT NEED TO GO TO COLLEGE.
- Encourage students with disabilities and their families to identify community-based supports to help foster the success of the student beyond graduation.
- Encourage goal setting and planning for the future.
Eligibility Criteria
- The student must be currently enrolled in a public high school or charter school in Bergen, Passaic, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Union, Sussex, Somerset, or Warren counties, and be scheduled to graduate in 2024.
- The student must be receiving special education and/or related services through an IEP or 504 plan in ANY placement.
- The student (or designee) must demonstrate that the funds will be used to pursue post-secondary education, internships, or apprenticeship opportunities, including but not limited to special training programs for the pursuit of vocational opportunities, or continuing education. Examples of such programs are art, recreation, film or music programs, 2- or 4-year college courses, trade and vocational schools, physical education programs, or adult day programs. Funds may be used to pay for related transportation costs.
- If applicable, the student (or designee) must demonstrate acceptance into a post-secondary program or a commitment for participation in an internship, externship or mentor arrangement.
- The student (or designee) must demonstrate that consideration was given to any disability-related accommodations, supports or services needed to be successful in the pursuit of his/her post-secondary goal, and describe how those support needs will be met.
- The student must submit ONE letter of recommendation from a guidance counselor, teacher or principal.
- Distribution and Use of Funds:
A maximum of 3 scholarships will be awarded, at least one in the amount of up to $1,000 per student. Funds can be used to support the student’s post-secondary goals as they relate to education, training or vocational opportunities.
Appropriate use of scholarship funds includes but is not limited to:
- Tuition or coursework payments
- Transportation costs (where none is otherwise available)
- Tutoring services (when appropriate)
- Stipends for unpaid internships
- Assistive technology
NOTE: Funds cannot be used to pay for services or supports that otherwise would be provided at no cost, or to release any individual, company (public or private), state agency or organization from fiscal responsibility to provide accommodations or supports otherwise required by law.
Selection Criteria
Applications will be reviewed by a committee that may be comprised of:
- Ideally, one representative from each Alliance region;
- An Alliance Board member serving as a non-voting facilitator;
Applications will be reviewed for:
- Completeness
- Eligibility criteria
- Appropriate use of funds
- Compatibility with the goals of the scholarship

This scholarship acknowledges the transformative power of music as a universal language that transcends barriers and enriches lives. By supporting aspiring musicians, it aims to cultivate a society that values creativity and expression, fostering empathy, emotional intelligence, and cultural understanding. This initiative seeks to harness the profound impact of music, nurturing a generation that appreciates its significance in shaping a harmonious and interconnected world.
The Nick Lindblad Memorial Scholarship hopes to honor Nick's memory and his love of music through supporting a student who shares Nick's love of music.
Any high school senior who has a love for music and has been involved musically throughout high school may apply for this scholarship.

The Student-View Scholarship is a unique opportunity for high school seniors.

Student Insights will award the following prizes:
- One (1) individual prize of a $10,000 scholarship.
- Two (2) individual prize of a $1,000 scholarship.
- Five (5) individual prizes, consisting of $500 scholarships each
It is exceptionally easy to apply:

* NO minimum grade point average
* NO lengthy, time-consuming paperwork
* NO essays
* NO application fees
Simply complete a 15-25 minute online survey about local colleges. You will then be automatically entered into a random drawing for a scholarship award.
BP COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP
This year marks the 37th year of the BP Community Scholarship Program serving the New York and northern New Jersey area. Since its inception, the program has awarded over $3.7 million and over 2,200 scholarships benefiting promising students.
Each year our scholarship awardees are honored at a scholarship reception. This annual event provides an opportunity to recognize the scholarship awardees along with their families and also provides an opportunity for our students to meet BP representatives and other invited dignitaries.
BP is pleased to support this initiative as a way of giving back to the communities in which we operate by encouraging local high school seniors to pursue their dreams of going to college.
All applications must be submitted online by March 22, 2024.
Applicants will be required to upload a 500 - 750 word personal statement addressing all of the following questions:
- What have been the most important experiences during your high school years that have prepared you for college?
- What do you wish to achieve from your college education?
- Why should you be considered for a BP Community Scholarship?
Applicants must also submit an official high school transcript.
Applicants must submit a copy of their Student Aid Report (SAR) including the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) from the information provided on their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Eligibility
To be considered for a BP Community Scholarship, you must meet all of the following criteria:
- A current high school senior planning to enroll as a full-time student (12 semester hours or more) in an accredited two or four-year college or university in the U.S. for the 2024 - 2025 academic year.
- Legally reside in New York City, Long Island, Westchester County or northern New Jersey.
- Possess at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
- Be able to demonstrate financial need.
Selection Criteria
Awards will be based on the information provided on the application, the personal statement, academic performance, extracurricular activities, work experience, individual goals and demonstrated financial need.
Scholarship recipients will be selected by a committee of participating station owners and operators and other representatives based on the above criteria. All applicants will be notified by the end of April. Scholarship awardees will be required to attend the BP scholarship reception to be held on May 23rd, 2024 at Citi Field.
