In Case You Missed It...
Inspiration in History
The 5th Grade is currently in the midst of giving the ABIS stairwells a much needed makeover. The members of the 5th Grade Student Council researched and picked out important individuals from various cultures and times throughout history to paint murals of. Once the artwork is complete, a memorable quote from each person will be added before being displayed later this month.
STEM and Social Skills
A Visit from Judge Singh
On Friday, the 6th grade was thrilled to receive a visit from the Hon. Rukhsanah L. Singh, U.S. Magistrate Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. Judge Singh was accompanied by her colleagues in the judicial community and two agents of the United States Marshals Service. After introducing themselves, the judges and marshals explained the purpose of their jobs and why a fair system of justice is crucial for society. The judges and marshals then answered many excellent questions from students, including what happens when someone lies in court and how long the average case takes before it is resolved. After their questions were answered, the students lined up for a chance to pet the Marshals Service's special K-9 agent, Grover! A few lucky students even received baseball cards featuring Grover. All of the 6th grade students are thankful that the judges and marshals chose to visit ABIS.
Celebrating Women
History is neither static nor does it wait for anyone. It is constantly moving forward demanding that as a society we make the effort to improve our lives and the lives of those who are yet to come. This March we are reminded that Women’s History Month is a chance to embrace progress. Learn more about leading female historical figures by checking out one of our nonfiction books. Or dive into the life of a woman from the past by reading a historical fiction novel.
Each grade has their own "showing" for you to check out.
Celebrating Our School Community
Congratulations Students!
Every month we celebrate our students for their contributions to the classroom and their grade. Each of our grade level teams collaborate and select two overall grade level recipients who have demonstrated positive character traits during the month. This can include work ethic, engagement in class or with other students, kindness towards others, and advocacy for self and others.
In addition, each specials area teacher selects a student to celebrate based on their subject area; Art, Music, Technology, World Languages, PE/Health, STEM, etc.
