Quarter 1 Midterm Grades Now Available
It's hard to believe, but today marks the Quarter 1 Midterm! Your child's midterm grades are now posted and can be accessed through Infinite Campus.
This is an excellent opportunity to check in with your child, celebrate their strengths, and recognize the skills that have contributed to their success. It’s equally important to discuss any areas where improvement is needed and collaborate on a plan to help them turn things around before the quarter ends.
As always, please reach out to your child's teacher(s) directly if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child's progress in their class.
Thank you for your continued support in helping your child succeed!

Professional Development Day-September 10th
Our first professional development day granted by the DOE for DCSC staff will occur on September 10th, and students will not attend school in person. We will utilize this as a Practice eLearning Day for all K-12 students. On September 10th, please plan to ensure your child logs into their Schoology page and completes the work posted for the following subject or class period. Teachers should have all assignments uploaded by 9 a.m.
5th/6th Grade: 2nd period
7th/8th Grade: 3rd period
Teachers will be checking to ensure that work is completed and following up with students who have trouble to ensure they know how to complete the work should we need to use an eLearning Day later in the school year. If there are extenuating circumstances (no Internet at home, Internet outage, broken device, etc.) that prevent your child from completing their work on eLearning Days, please communicate that clearly with their teacher so they may be given up to five days to complete the work. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any additional questions.
7th Grade Hearing Screening
All 7th grade students will have their hearing screened during their science class on Wednesday, October 2nd by the district Speech-Language Pathologists. Students will get a handout communicating whether or not they passed their hearing screening. If they did not pass, they will be re-screened in 4-6 weeks.
ILEARN Checkpoints
This year, DCSC will be participating in the ILEARN Checkpoints Pilot through the state. We have replaced our regular NWEA testing in the fall and spring with these Checkpoints. We are excited to see the data we get back to better track student growth and progress toward mastery of grade level skills throughout the year.
Please review the attachments below for more grade-specific details on what the Checkpoints will look like.
Our tentative testing dates at DCMS are as follows:
- Checkpoint 1: October 8th to October 10th
- Checkpoint 2: December 9th to December 11th
- Checkpoint 3: March 11th to March 13th
Spring Summative dates will be determined at a later date. The checkpoint dates are subject to change, based on student need and testing accommodation requirements.

September and October Character Trait: Responsibility
Nutrition Club
The Nutrition Club provides supplemental weekend food for children at North, South, and Middle School each Friday during the school year. We all struggle at some point. The goal of this program is to ease a bit of the struggle. You are welcome to sign-up at any point during the school year. The food will be sent home in a plastic bag that can fit inside a school backpack or be carried. You only complete one form per family. List all of your children that you would like to participate. Each child in your family will receive their own cinch sack or bag on Fridays throughout the school year. This program is the result of the generosity of the Danville community! Please contact Chrissy Larkin with any questions. clarkin9893@aol.com or 317-563-2498.
