Word Wall Words
Pictured above are this week’s and next week’s words. A special thanks to Matteo and Matthew for coloring the pictures! Below, the boys are matching clothespins with letters on them to index cards to spell the words.
Literacy Workstations
Aria worked on sequencing cards. Each “story” consists of 4 images that need to be placed in chronological order.
Shared Reading
Joel did a great job reading this page! Often, in kindergarten, we use picture clues to help us predict the text. This book gives a glimpse of different body parts of a cat on each page to aid in reading. Although it is a simple story, it is a great example of how to use patterns and illustrations to read a book.
Reading
After two weeks away from school, the children did a great job getting back into the swing of things!
Math
This week we are refreshing our memories on how to write addition equations.
Math Workstations
During math workstations Aaliyah and Nasir put together a new math puzzle.
Taking Care of Our Trout
London, Zamora, and Bennett helped check the water quality. They helped mix chemicals and read the results. Did you know that trout prefer cold water? We keep our tank around 52 degrees.
Environmental Science Projects
Great job, Matthew! He was the first student to turn in his environmental science projects this grading period. The projects are due by next Thursday, January 12th. Below is a copy of the activities that would fulfill the goal.
December Challenge
Congratulations to Bessie-Grace, Laila, Matthew, and Zamora for learning their street address! Some of the children could name their street name but these kiddos knew the whole address. A special shout out to Laila who knew her zip code too!
January Challenge
This month each child should focus on writing their first and last name. This includes leaving a space between the names, using capital and lowercase letters appropriately, and using correct letter formation.
Personal Passion Projects
As a reminder, the expert projects are due next week. Your child’s project can be an explanation and/or demonstration of a sport or hobby. In the past we have had students explain how to make something (like a sandwich). Be creative and enjoy this project with your child!
