First Friday 2024.3.1
First Friday Message from Dr. Davies
March 1, 2024
Greetings, Bulldog Community:
Last weekend, I had the pleasure of attending a performance of the Middle School’s production of 30 Horrible Catastrophes of Middle School. The aspiring actors were hilarious and brought the day-to-day challenges of a middle schooler to life on stage. It’s clear we have some very talented Bulldogs!
Along those lines, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast will be live on the High School Stage this weekend! I’m looking forward to attending, and I hope we have sell-out shows to support our theater arts program. Please see below for performance times and ticket information.
March also brings us Music in Our Schools Month, sponsored by the National Association of Music Education, which promotes and celebrates the importance of music education in our schools. West York has a stellar music program, and I hope you can join us for our concerts this month.
Music in Our Schools Month Concert: Wednesday, March 6th, at 7:00 p.m. at the High School (Formerly Winter Festival of Winds Concert)
The Middle and High School Choral Festival: Thursday, March 14th, at 6:30 p.m. at the Middle School
I’d like to congratulate Faith Walker for achieving her 1,000th career point in the basketball game against Mechanicsburg on Friday, February 23rd. We are all Bulldog Proud of Faith and her achievement! Read more about Faith's accomplishment in last Monday's Bulldog Breakdown.
On February 15th of this month, the Board held an informational presentation for the community about the proposed Athletic Fields Project. About 80 residents joined us, and there was spirited discourse following the presentation. Many questions were heard, and we have provided answers to those questions, which can be found by visiting the Athletic Fields Project Page on the District webpage. If you have questions or comments that have not been addressed, please click here or email BulldogMail@wyasd.org.
We invite the community to attend our Work Sessions and Board Meetings, where discussion about this project and other District business occurs. You can learn more about attending meetings on the Board page of our website, located here.
At the February 20th, Board voting meeting, the Board approved the 2024-25 District Calendar, which can be found here.
As always, thank you for supporting the West York Area School District.
Best regards,
Todd M. Davies, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools

Golden Pass Holder Events
We're pleased to offer several events for our Golden Bulldog Pass holders this year. The pass is available to our West York residents 65 and older and admits the holder to various District events and activities, as noted below:
Complimentary admission to all home athletic events (excludes playoff events)
Complimentary admission to all District concerts (most do not charge admission)
Complimentary Luncheon and a Show
"Be Our Guest" on March 3, 2023, for a luncheon and our all-school musical production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast. (Registration has closed for this event, but it will be back next year featuring a new musical production.)
We welcome those eligible who do not currently have a Golden Pass to stop by our Administration Office, Monday-Friday, between 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., to get your pass. All you need is a current photo ID showing your District address and date of birth.
If you know of a friend, neighbor, or family member who might benefit from a Golden Bulldog Pass, please share this information with them. Questions may be directed to BullDogMail@wyasd.org.
Blue & White Newsletter
Throughout the year, we highlight the awesomeness of students, faculty, and staff in our weekly Blue & White. The Blue & White is published weekly on Fridays and delivered via email. We accept submissions for the Blue & White of school-related photos and outside activities.
If you do not currently receive the Blue & White, and wish to do so, please follow the link below to subscribe. Questions or submissions can be directed to BullDogMail@wyasd.org.
Communication
There are times when you may need to contact someone in the District regarding a concern. Our Chain of Communication guide (linked below) will help you determine who to contact for different situations.
If you have questions or concerns not addressed in this guide, please reach out to your child’s building office or principal.
School Board Meetings
Each month, from August through June, regularly scheduled meetings (Work Sessions and Voting Meetings) of the School Board are held in the Boardroom of the Administration Building. In addition to the two regular meetings, the School Board also hosts Board Committee Meetings. All are welcome to attend any of these public meetings. In-person attendance is recommended, but we also offer viewing-only attendance via Zoom during most meetings of the Board. Work Sessions and Voting Meetings are also live-streamed on our District YouTube Channel.
We publish a monthly Board Bulletin, which summarizes the Work Session and Board Voting Meeting that occur during the month. The bulletin will be emailed to all families in the same manner you received this communication. Click here to view the February issue.
The link below lets you learn more about the meetings, agendas, and other information. If you have questions about meeting attendance not addressed here or on our website, please contact Tina Keeler @ trkeeler@wyasd.org.
