Just seven school days left to go until winter break
Dear GLOBE families,
With just over a week left to go until the end of the first semester, there are lots of things happening here at GLOBE. The remaining Winter Concerts will be taking place at Upper Campus, the first one is tomorrow night for Orchestra (moved back to 7pm), and on Tuesday for Chorus. Please also remember to check Lost and Found for any missing items before winter break. There's still time to donate to this year's Staff Gift Fund to help PTCC celebrate our teachers and staff during the Winter Holiday Season, and finally, don't forget that next week, Friday, December 20, will be an early release day. Please be sure to scroll through all of the information below for news and important updates. Thank you.

Lower Campus
Connections - Science
All second grade homerooms got to experience a mobile planetarium in the Village Plaza yesterday to learn about the patterns of the Earth, Moon and Sun. The dome was large enough to fit both homerooms inside, with room to spare. Enjoy some of the photos that were taken, and be sure to ask your 2nd grade student about what it was like to walk into outer space and visit Jupiter and moons at school!
Friday, December 20, is an early release day
Friday, December 20, is an early release day for ALL students - including those who usually attend aftercare. If you don’t normally participate in our afternoon pick-up, please click here to familiarize yourself with the procedures. Dismissal will begin at 11:30am at LC.
Library
Ms. Stowe is reopening applications for the Library Helper Program for Spring semester. Due to overwhelming enthusiasm from 3rd Grade, ten additional students will be selected to be Library Helpers during morning checkout and Friday recess during the 2025 Spring semester.
Any interested 3rd grade students can pick up an application from the Library or ask Ms. Stowe. Applications will be due by December 20, the last day of the fall semester.
If you have any questions, please email Ms. Stowe.
Message from the LC Nurse
A gentle reminder: If your child is sent home from school with either vomiting or a fever, DeKalb County Schools policy is that they must not return for 24 hours after the fever resolves without the use of fever reducing medication, or 24 hours after the last time that they vomited. If a child is sent home because of either of these reasons and they return to school the next day before the 24 hour mark, they will be sent home again. If your child is diagnosed with something contagious, especially flu, strep or pink eye, please let the nurse know. You can email the nurse directly here. This will help ensure all students have a healthy and happy learning environment. Thank you.
Do we have your correct emergency contact number?
Please ensure that we have your correct emergency contact information. If GLOBE needs to contact you urgently, it is imperative that we are able to reach you. Please update your details (if anything has changed) with the front office.

Band students participate in district-level audition
Congratulations to all of the 7th and 8th grade band students who auditioned on Saturday for the Georgia Music Educators Association All-State Band. Sixteen students decided to take the district-level audition, and we are proud to have three students advance to the state-level audition. Good luck to Naomi Lyons (euphonium), Aidan McKeown (bassoon), and Lucky Wills (alto saxophone) as they prepare for the second round!
New digital screen at UC carpool
You may have noticed a new addition at UC carpool in the form of a large digital tv screen. This will be a useful source of information, predominantly for upcoming athletic events, as well as other school communications. Be sure to check it out as you wait in carpool or attend an athletic event at the gym.
Winter CREST Drive to help the homeless!
It’s been a wonderful first semester here at The GLOBE Academy and as we close out our last couple of weeks, we want to shine a light on the C in CREST, by pulling together as a community to support a good cause.
The number of people experiencing homelessness is on the rise here in Atlanta and we want to do our part to help those in need. Our designee for this winter is The Gateway Center who help those experiencing homelessness find more permanent housing solutions. They are in constant need of supplies for those trying to get back on their feet. Personal hygiene products like toothpaste, shampoos and toilet paper are in especially high demand. We’ll be accepting donations of food and hygiene products every day next week!
Acceptable donations: Individually packaged non-perishable food items and bottled water. Toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, deodorant, diapers, etc.
Simply have your student bring in the supplies to their homerooms and we’ll track the number of donations. If we can manage to get to 2000 total donations as a school, we’ll be celebrating that success by making our first week back from school a spirit week, with a series of dress-down fun days and activities. So let’s come together as a community and show what we can accomplish!
