5/22 - STEAM Fair for Grades 1-3
5/26 - NO SCHOOL - Memorial Day
Scholastic Book Fair - Monday, 5/12 - Friday, 5/16
The Scholastic Book Fair is returning to the Bresnahan School! The Book Fair allows students and families to easily purchase new books at a reasonable price, and in turn raises funds for our school library to purchase new titles. Participation in the book fair is completely optional.
Students in grades 1-3 have an opportunity to shop during the school day. They will visit the Book Fair with their class during their regular library time. PreK and K students do not visit the Book Fair during the school day. However, there are several after school shopping hours that all families are invited to attend if you choose. Click here for a link to the Book Fair hours and schedule.
Payment options for in-school shopping: If your child is purchasing books during the school day, parents can send in cash, checks, or set up an e-wallet for your child. Please remember that we are required to charge sales tax and that should be included in the funds sent in with your child.
Scholastic has an e-wallet option that eliminates the need for cash or checks. The e-wallet option easily allows parents to preload a specific amount into their child’s account. Click here to find out more about e-wallet.
We make sure that every child (Grades 1-3) has an opportunity to get a book at the book fair. Families can choose to donate extra funds to ensure that every child can get a book. If you are interested in supporting this tradition, families can donate when you shop in person or you can contribute by visiting the book fair website and click on “Share the Fair”.
Parent Volunteers: We will need parent volunteers to make our Book Fair successful! Classroom liaisons have shared a Sign Up Genius with parents in each classroom. We are still in need of parent volunteers! Here is a link to the Sign Up Genius. (This is the same link that classroom liaisons shared last week). Volunteers must have a current CORI on file but do not need to be fingerprinted.
Please visit our Book Fair website to find out more details. Please email Mrs. Ames if you have any questions. rames@newburyport.k12.ma.us
Nurse Updates
Spring Cleaning Items
It is spring and the weather is changing...finally. Here are a few “spring cleaning items” we wanted to share with you.
Extra set of clothing-Please remember to send in an extra set of clothes appropriate for spring/warmer weather. We do not have enough clothes for the many students who are requesting replacements for spills, mud and rain etc.
Sunblock/Sunscreen- Please apply before school if needed. The nurse and other staff can not apply this at school without a physicians’ order.
Water/Hydration- Please send a bottle to school. We do have a water refill station to replenish throughout the day. Hydration can improve cognitive function, improve mood and decrease fatigue and headaches, increased energy and all over enhanced academic performance
Snacks in class-Classroom teachers can not give snacks to students and can not accept donated snacks for the class. The health office has some healthy options when a student is without a snack such as apples, cheese sticks and apple sauce. Healthy snacks provide students with essential nutrients, helping them focus, stay energized and maintain overall health, which positively impacts their academic performance and overall well being. Please remember candy is not allowed in school.
Injuries- Springtime is an active time. We are seeing an increase of injuries from home/sports/recess. If your child injures themselves and is coming to school and may need assistance/accommodations such as a brace/use of an elevator or change in workload please contact the nurses to discuss. The nurse is the coordinator in the building for injuries and will make an appropriate plan and inform any staff about accommodations.
Field trips/lunches- please remember that when packing lunch or snack for a field trip they need to be nut free.
Thank you,

Bike Bus to the Bres!
Congratulations to everyone who participated in this morning’s Bike Bus to the Bres—it was fantastic to see such a large and enthusiastic group of students biking in together!
If you're new to the idea, a Bike Bus is a group of students and adult leaders riding bikes and scooters to school together along a planned route with scheduled stops. It’s a fun, healthy, and community-building way to start the day—and an excellent way to promote safe, active transportation.
We’re so excited to launch this initiative. While we know the timing is tight, we've been working behind the scenes to coordinate all the details—and we truly hope your family can join us for the next ride!
Runway 4 Recovery
