Happy Sunday Ram Families!
I hope this FINAL newsletter of the school year finds you all well and enjoying the weekend! We have one final 4-day week of school remaining, and it is definitely going to be a busy one! Don't forget that we have a minimum day with a 12:35pm release this Thursday, June 6th and NO SCHOOL on Friday, June 7th. Please make sure to review the "8th Grade - Last Week of School" information below so that you are aware of everything that is going on this week on campus for our promoting class of 2024!
Also this week, our 7th and 8th grade students will be turning in their textbooks and all outstanding library books during their Social Science classes. Please see the Textbook Return Calendar below for more information on what days and in what classes returns will be happening. Chrome books stay with 6th and 7th graders over the summer; 8th graders will turn theirs in this week during Homeroom and will receive an updated Chrome Book to use during high school when they register for 9th grade. Don't forget to also turn in your charger when you turn in your Chromebook!
Online registration for continuing PUSD families and new to PUSD families is now open. If you haven't registered your student yet please do so immediately. If your student is not returning to Twin Peaks in the fall please contact Mrs. Kirti Choudhary, our Counseling Assistant at kchoudhary@powayusd.com. It is important for us to know this information since our teacher's schedules are built based on our student enrollment numbers. Thank you in advance for taking the time to register your returning students AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!
We distributed Yearbooks to students who pre-ordered them this week during Homeroom/Ram classes. If you haven't already purchased one, Yearbooks are still available for $55 cash on a first-come, first-served basis in room 406.
Our Lost & Found is pretty full again with student water bottles, lunch bags, sweatshirts and jackets. Please have your students check to see if any of their items have been left behind before we donate the items - the last day to claim your belongings is this Wednesday, June 7th by 3pm!
Our 8th Grade Harbor Cruise sets sail this Monday evening - please see the information below for arrival and departure times. Please make sure to dress for a change in weather - it does tend to get a little chilly as the evening goes on, especially if you are outside on one of the boat's decks. The final bus list will be posted outside of the WEB room on Monday, 6/3 - please check the list so you know which bus you will be riding on. Please remember that all school rules do apply to this event.
Finally this week, CONGRATULATIONS to our May Students of the Month who were selected by their teachers for being scholarly! You can see the entire list of this month's winners and their photos below. I hope you all have a memorable last week of school and a relaxing and rejuvenating summer break!

Monday 6/3: NORMAL EVEN DAY (4-6-8-2)
8th grade Harbor Cruise
Due to high demand, we have added a 6th bus. This means all students who have submitted a permission slip and $$ are included in the trip. There is no more waitlist, and ticket sales are closed.
Students should meet at the lunch tables at TPMS starting at 5:15pm to have pizza. Busses leave at 6:00pm SHARP. Boat cruise is 7:00-9:00pm and we are back at TPMS for pickup by 9:45pm.
Tuesday 6/4: NORMAL ODD DAY (5-7-1-3)
Wednesday 6/5: EVEN DAY SCHEDULE (6-8-2-4 w/ 8th grade events)
Period 6: 8th Grade Breakfast: Please report to your Homeroom for attendance. Please leave your backpacks and belongings in the classroom.
Period 8: Promotion Chair Setup
Period 2: Promotion Practice
Period 4: Movie and Yearbooks in the MPR: We invite all 8th graders to come to the MPR (after attendance) for a movie and yearbook signing.
Thursday 6/6: MINIMUM DAY SCHEDULE (all Homeroom Day for grade 6 and 7)
School starts as normal at 8:30am; release time is 12:35pm.
Promotion: 8th graders should arrive by 8:00am and report to the tennis courts no later than 8:10am. Guests are limited to immediate family members; seating and parking will be also be limited and is on a first come, first served basis. If you require a seat, you are encouraged to bring your own. Gates will open at 7:30am and the ceremony will start promptly at 8:30am. There will be a live stream of the Promotion Ceremony available at our TPMS tv YouTube Channel LINKED HERE.

5 Star All-Star EOY Lunch!
On Friday I had the pleasure of having lunch with 45 of the coolest kids on campus! This was our First Annual 5 Star All-Star Lunch to celebrate our top 5 grade level winners each trimester who collected the most 5 Star points. Students earn 5 Star points through their participation in school activities, showing kindness to others, helping to keep the campus clean, completing their homework, by being a good example for others, and about a dozen other positive behaviors. Thank you to the PTSA for sponsoring the lunch and providing Jersey Mike's Sandwiches, chips, cookies, fruit and some beverages. A special SHOUT OUT to our amazing PTSA Volunteers Mrs. Bayliff and Mrs. Ramos for their work over the past 3 years with Character Counts and 5 Star All-Stars!
SDCOE Esports Summer Camp
As we look ahead to the summer, I am thrilled to share an exciting opportunity with you and your students. The San Diego County Office of Education is hosting an Esports Summer Camp from July 8th to 12th for Middle School Students. This camp promises to be an engaging and enriching experience, featuring a variety of games and activities that students will love.
Here are some key details about the camp:
Dates: July 8th - 12th
Location: Linda Vista Innovation Center 2202 Comstock St. San Diego, CA 92111
Cost: $550 for the week
Includes: Camp materials (journal, t-shirts, blue light glasses), AM/PM snack, transportation to UCSD, UCSD lunch, and access to games such as Super Smash, Rocket League, Minecraft, Chess, FIFA, NBA2K, Madden, MarioKart, and Splatoon.

Please Get to School On-Time!
Parents - please make every effort to have your student here before classes begin each day at 8:30am, or before 9:50am on Wednesdays. We are actually experiencing a larger percentage of students late to school on Wednesdays when we have late start than on our regular start days. Please try and drop your student off at school by 8:15am or regular days and by 9:30am on late-start Wednesdays so that they have time to get to their first block class on time; we open the school gates 30 minutes before classes actually start, and our Food Services provide a free breakfast for students during this time or during the morning break after first block.
Multilingual Program Updates!
First, we are excited to share a new tool you can access to support your student(s) that are English Learners. The EL Console is our new application where parents can see student’s progress towards reclassification. You can view their ELPAC scores along with their progress on iReady and SBAC assessments. To access the EL Console, follow these quick steps!
Second, our English Learner department has a new Instagram and Facebook account you can follow! You can see amazing learning in action, get updates from the EL Department, and learn how to continue to support your child. You can follow along at @pusdmll !
Attendance Corner
Is your Student leaving early? Call the Attendance Hotline (858) 668-2730 that morning. Leave a message and a note gets sent to the student that block. Bring in your ID, sign the student out, and away you go!
Is your Student running late? Absent? Call the Attendance Hotline (858) 668-2730
Leave a message with the requested information and the Tardy or Absence will be excused.
Did your student go to the Doctor/Dentist/Orthodontist/Dermatologist/Optometrist?
It is beneficial to his/her attendance record to bring an official medical note to the Attendance Desk. Any absence excused by a medical note does not count toward your student’s absence total.
Main Office Drop-Offs
As a general rule, we do not accept drop-off items for students once they arrive at school. While we do make exceptions for medical and emergency situations, our TPMS Student Planner states: "In an effort to limit classroom interruptions as well as encourage students to become more independent and self-sufficient, Twin Peaks does not allow delivery of forgotten lunches, PE clothes, homework, non-emergency messages, or other items during the school day."
Delivery food and Door Dash-like companies may not deliver to students at school; additionally, cell phones will not be held for students at the front desk for them to pick up. Breakfast and lunch items are provided to all students, free of charge, so there should not be any reason to drop off a lunch for your student - they will be able to get food at school. If your student has food allergies that require special lunches, the Student Planner states you "must provide a Medical Statement (SNP-925) that explains the need. The medical statement must be signed by a physician and include recommended alternate foods."
PTSA Meeting Dates 23-24
The Twin Peaks Middle School Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) is a membership-based, volunteer organization dedicated to making each school year a rewarding and enriching experience for all students. As a volunteer organization, PTSA is integral to the success of many campus events. We fund, organize and provide volunteers for a variety of PTSA programs and important school activities which serve to enhance your student’s middle school experience
All Executive Board meetings will be held on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 6:15pm in the TPMS Library unless listed otherwise. Association Meetings will be held in September, February, and April. Board meetings are open to PTSA Board Members and Committee Chairs while Association Meetings are open for all members of the Twin Peaks Middle School PTSA:

TPMS Foundation 23-24
Twin Peaks Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing educational excellence for ALL students at Twin Peaks Middle School. Their purpose is to bridge the widening gap between the amount of money actually provided by the State of California and the Poway Unified School District and the amount necessary to fund technology upgrades, educational programs and resources necessary to support the school. The Foundation typically meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6pm in the TPMS Library.
